Important things to note:

Laying cables in between and underneath bricks

Cables can fit in between and underneath LEGO® bricks, plates, and tiles providing they are laid correctly between the LEGO® studs. Do NOT forcefully join LEGO® together around cables; instead ensure they are laying comfortably in between each stud.

CAUTION: Forcing LEGO® to connect over a cable can result in damaging the cable and light.

Connecting cable connectors to Expansion Boards

Take extra care when inserting connectors to ports of Expansion Boards. Connectors can be inserted only one way. With the expansion board facing up, look for the soldered “=” symbol on the left side of the port. The connector side with the wires exposed should be facing toward the soldered “=” symbol as you insert into the port. If a plug won’t fit easily into a port connector, do not force it.

Incorrectly inserting the connector can can result in bent pins inside the port or possible overheating of the expansion board when connected.  

Connecting cable connectors to Strip Lights

Take extra care when inserting connectors to ports on the Strip Lights. Connectors can be inserted only one way. With the Strip Light facing up, ensure the side of the connector with the wires exposed is facing down. If a plug won’t fit easily into a port connector, don’t force it. Doing so will damage the plug and the connector.

Connecting Micro Cable connectors to Micro Expansion Board Ports

Take extra care when inserting the micro connectors to micro ports of Micro Expansion Boards. Connecting Micro Bit Lights to Micro Expansion Boards is similar to connecting lights and cables to Strip Lights. With the expansion board facing up, ensure the side of the connector with the wires exposed is facing down. If a plug won’t fit easily into a port connector, do not force it. Use your fingernail to push the plastic part of the connector to the micro port.  

Installing Bit Lights under LEGO® bricks and plates.

When installing Bit Lights under LEGO® pieces, ensure they are placed the correct way up (Yellow LED component exposed). You can either place them directly on top of LEGO® studs or in between.

 

OK, Let’s Begin!

  1.) Start by lifting up the hood and disconnecting the following sections surrounding the front of the vehicle:     2.) Take the bottom left headlight section and disconnect the trans clear round plate. Take a White 15cm Bit Light and thread the connector end of the cable through the right hole and out the bottom of the yellow brick. Thread the cable all the way through, then carefully bend the Bit Light so that it sits flat against the front hole. Secure the light in place by reconnecting the trans clear round plate over the top.   Reconnect this section back to the front left side of the car ensuring the cable is slipped inside and behind as shown below.     3.) Repeat the previous step to install another White 15cm Bit Light to the bottom right headlight, then reconnect this section to the front right side of the car.     4.) Place the car on it’s back, then disconnect the front right wheel. Take the Bit Light cable on this side and thread it through the following hole in the dark grey technic brick. Pull the cable out all the way out from the other side of the brick.   Repeat this step for the left side, then connect both Bit Light cables to the middle ports on the 8-Port Expansion Board.   Disconnect the following angled yellow tile.     5.) Take the Flat Battery Pack and insert 2x new CR2032 Batteries to it. Thread the battery pack cable through the following space behind the front passenger seat that leads underneath the vehicle. Pull the cable all the way out, then connect the cable to the far left port on the 8-Port Expansion board. Place the Battery Pack behind the front seats. Important Note: USB Power Cable has replaced Flat & Round Battery Packs (CR2032) as of June 2022 due to child safety regulations. Please use the USB Power Cable in place of the Battery Pack.   Turn the battery pack ON to test the front headlights are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light or expansion board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     6.) Take the following two sections we disconnected earlier and disassemble them, then reconnect the bottom yellow plate to each side of the vehicle.   Reconnect the front panel section     7.) Disassemble the two headlight sections as shown below, then take a White 15cm Bit Light and place it in the following position over one of the light grey plates. Secure the Bit Light in place by reconnecting the trans clear dish over the top. Fold the cable down underneath ensuring it is laid in between the gap, then reinsert the black bar.   The Bit Light should be positioned underneath the centre of the headlight and the cable should be facing the bottom as per below image.   Repeat this step to install another White 15cm Bit Light to the other headlight section     8.) Take the right headlight section and thread the cable behind before reconnecting it to the vehicle. Ensure the cable is laid in between studs on the left of it, then push in the exterior panel. Reconnect the two pieces as shown below.   Repeat this step for the left headlight on the other side.     9.) Reconnect the following remaining pieces to the front of the car.     10.) Thread the cables from both headlights through the same holes we threaded the bottom headlight cables through (behind the front wheels). Connect both cables to the next available ports on the 8-Port Expansion Board.   Reconnect both wheels, then turn ON the Battery Pack to test the headlights are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light or expansion board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     11.) Take a 15cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the right port on the 8-Port Expansion Board.  Bring the cable toward the right side and thread it through the following space underneath the vehicle which leads to the area behind the driver seat. Pull the cable all the way out, then connect it to the IN port on the NC Push Board.      12.) Remove the roof of the car by disconnecting the front of it via the clips, then disconnecting the back of it as shown below. Remove the driver seat as well as the following pieces underneath.   Take the remaining White 15cm Bit Light and connect the cable to the OUT port on the NC Push Board. Remove the protective backing on the NC Push Board, then using the adhesive underneath, stick the board to the floor of the vehicle near the edge of the door opening as shown below. Ensure the push trigger is facing out.     13.) Lay the two cables down in between studs toward the back seat, then reconnect the black 1×4 L plate down over the top. Disconnect the two black 1×2 tiles with clips from the bottom of the driver seat, then reconnect these to the floor as shown below.   Pull the Bit Light end of the cable up and slip it in between the black angled brick and the trans clear window piece. Fold the Bit Light over and lay it in between studs, ensuring the LED is facing down, then reconnect the back sides of the roof section. The Bit Light should be slightly sticking out about 1-2 CM to shine down on the front seat.   Reconnect the roof at the front clips, then reconnect the driver seat. Turn the battery pack ON to test the internal Bit Light is working OK and the NC push Board works when pushing the trigger. The internal light should deactivate when the door is closed (NC Trigger is pushed in) and reactivate when the door is open (NC Trigger is released).   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light or expansion board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     14.) Place the vehicle onto it’s back so we can access underneath. Take out the remaining 15cm Connecting Cable and connect it to a spare port on the 8-Port Expansion Board. Connect the other end of the cable to the Micro 2-4 Expansion Board (larger port).   Twist the Bit Light cables from the headlights around each other into a neat bunch. Stick 2x Adhesive Squares to the back of the 8-Port Expansion Board, then mount the board to the following position underneath the car. Tuck the bunched up cables underneath the wheel axle behind the board.   Lay the Bit Light cable and the 15cm Connecting Cable down the left side, then reconnect the following angled yellow plate over the top, ensuring the cables are laid in between studs underneath. Disconnect the angled yellow plate on the right side and lay the 15cm cable (connecting to the NC Push Board) down in between studs before reconnecting the angled plate over the top.   The underneath of the vehicle should look similar to below.     15.) Turn the Fiat to the back and disconnect the trunk door via the clips, then disconnect the bottom bumper section from the centre clips as well as the tail light section underneath.     16.) Disconnect the trans red and orange tiles from the left side. Take a White 15cm Micro Bit Light and with the cable facing inside, place it in between the following studs. Ensure the LED is facing up, then reconnect the trans red tile over the top.   Install another White 15cm Micro Bit Light to the stud above, then secure it in place by reconnecting the trans orange tile over the top. Fold both cables underneath the plates, towards the bottom as shown below.     17.) Install another 2x White 15cm Micro Bit Lights to the tail lights on the right side.     18.) With all the cables folded underneath, reconnect the tail light section to the back of the car. Ensure the cables on each side are laid together in between studs. Flip the car over and fold the cables down underneath the vehicle.   Disconnect the black and grey plates. Neatly lay down both groups of cables, then reconnect the plates over the top of the cables, ensuring they are laid in between studs.   Connect the four Micro Bit Light cables to the Micro 2-4 Port Expansion Board (smaller ports), then turn the Battery Pack ON to test the tail lights are working OK.     19.) Reconnect the bumper section, followed by the trunk door, then flip the car onto it’s side so we can access underneath.   Twist the Micro Bit Light cables together into a neat bunch, then lay the 15cm connecting cable between both expansion boards underneath the following yellow angled plate. Disconnect the following yellow angled tile and reconnect it over the cable ensuring it is are laid in between studs underneath.   Stick 2x Adhesive Squares to the back of the Micro Expansion Board, then mount the board to the following position behind the wheel axle. Tuck the bunched up cables underneath the axle as shown below. Neaten up any excess cable that may be dangling out.   Flip the vehicle back over and you’re done! You can easily access the Flat Battery Pack from the back of the front passenger seat. Place the Battery Pack back inside and close the door to fully conceal it.    

This finally completes installation of the Light My Bricks Fiat 500 Light Kit.

Installing Bit Lights under LEGO® bricks and plates.

When installing Bit Lights under LEGO® pieces, ensure they are placed the correct way up (Yellow LED component exposed). You can either place them directly on top of LEGO® studs or in between.

 

OK, Let’s Begin!

  1.) We will first light up the space shuttle. Disconnect and disassemble the three jet pieces from the shuttle as shown below:   Take out a White 30cm Micro Bit Light and with the LED facing up, place it inside one of the black rounded bricks. Secure the light by connecting a provided Trans Orange Round Plate 1×1 over the top.   Thread the connector end of the cable through the bottom of the black round plate with open stud, then reconnect this along with the clip tile to the back as shown below:   Reconnect this section to the back of the shuttle ensuring the cable is facing the same way as shown in the below images.     2.) Repeat the previous step to install another 2x White 30cm Micro Bit Lights to the two other jet sections (using the provided Trans Orange Round Plate 1×1 to secure the lights in place). Reconnect each jet section to the back of the shuttle with the cable facing the same way.     3.) Group the three cables together toward the shuttle and twist them around each other a few times. Continue to twist the cables around each other all the way to the end to form one larger cable. Connect the three Micro Bit Lights to the Micro 2-4 Port Expansion Board (smaller ports).     4.) Connect a 5cm Connecting Cable to the larger port on this expansion board, then connect the other end of the cable to one of the OUT ports on the Flicker Effects Board   Connect another 5cm Connecting Cable to the IN port on the Flicker Effects Board, then connect the other end of this cable to a 6-Port Expansion Board. Connect the USB Power Cable to the 6-Port Expansion Board, then connect the other end of the USB cable to your USB Power Bank or wall adaptor (sold separately) to test the space shuttle lights are working OK with the flickering effect.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.   5.) Place the Space Shuttle in front of the space station set and bring the cables and components around the left side of the stand. Turn the set around and connect a 15cm Connecting Cable to the 6-Port Expansion Board. Connect the other end of the cable to a White Strip Light   Connect a new 5cm Connecting Cable to the other end of the Strip Light, then peel off the adhesive backing protective paper on the back of the Strip Light.     6.) Thread the strip light through in between the stand’s vertical technic stand pieces, then wind the cable around the back stand leg and thread it back through in between. Turn the set around to the front, then stick the Strip Light underneath the top of the stand in the below position.   Turn the Power ON to test the strip light is working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.   7.) Turn the set around to the back again and stick adhesive squares onto the back of the two expansion boards and effects board. Mount them behind the bottom of the stand in the below positions. Neaten up cables by twisting excess cables into a bunch (to tighten the cable around the stand) as well as hiding the larger cable underneath the stand base as shown below.   Locate the spare end of the 5cm Connecting Cable from the Strip Light and connect it to an 8-Port Expansion Board. Connect a new 5cm Connecting Cable to the 8-port Expansion Board, then connect the other end of the cable to a new 6-Port Expansion Board.     8.) Turn the set back around to the front and disconnect the horizontal bar that connects over the two upper panels on the left side.   Disconnect the technic axle pin from the middle of the bar, then take a Cool White 30cm Bit Light and thread the connector end of it through the top of the bar. Pull the cable all the way out from the bottom then, carefully bend the LED component so that it is facing directly up. Hold the Bit Light together on top of the bar, then ensuring the cable is laid inside one of the grooves, carefully re-insert the technic axle pin. CAUTION: Do not forcefully reconnect the pin all the way through, as this may break the cable. It is important that the cable is laid inside one of the technic axle grooves before inserting the pin. Note – with the Bit Light installed, the technic axle pin will not re-insert the whole way through.     9.) Reconnect the horizontal bar to the top of the panels, then loop the cable across the front toward the left. Slot the cable in between the space created. This will secure the cable, then bring the cable down the centre behind the long technic axle pin. Ensure the cable is brought down behind, so that it isn’t visible from the front of the set.   Slightly disconnect the light grey technic pin from the dark grey 1×1 brick, then bring the cable around and across the front to the left. Reconnect the light grey technic pin so that it slightly pushes the cable inside the dark grey 1×1 brick hole. This will secure the cable in place.     10.) From the back of the set, thread the Bit Light cable underneath and up in between the following light grey clips. Pull the cable out from the top and bring it to the left to connect to the 6-Port Expansion Board nearby.   Turn the Power On to test the Bit Light we installed to the panel is working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     11.) Repeat steps 8 and 9 to install another Cool White 30cm Bit Light to the other top panel on the left side.     12.) From the back of the set, thread the Bit Light cable up in between the light grey clips, then loop the cable around and up in between 3-4 times to eliminate excess cable. Connect the Bit Light to the 6-Port Expansion Board, then turn the Power ON to test the panel lights are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     13.) Using the same methods used to install the top panel lights, install another 2x Cool White 30cm Bit Lights to the bottom left panels. CAUTION: Do not forcefully reconnect the pin all the way through, as this may break the cable. It is important that the cable is laid inside one of the technic axle grooves before inserting the pin. Note – with the Bit Light installed, the technic axle pin will not re-insert the whole way through.     Turn the set around to the back and this time, thread the Bit Light cable down in between the light grey clips before connecting it to the 6-Port Expansion Board.   Turn the Power ON to test     13.) Connect the second bottom panel light.   Thread the cable through the top of the light grey clips, then loop it around 3-4 times before connecting to the next spare port on the 6-Port Expansion Board.   Turn the Power ON to test   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     14.) Use 2x Adhesive Squares to mount the 6-port Expansion Board behind the space station in the following position. Then neaten up cabling to ensure there are no cables sticking out and visible from the front side.     15.) Take the remaining 15cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the 8-Port Expansion Board at the back of the space station. Bring the cable above the middle and across to the left side laying it around sections as shown below, then connect it to the remaining 6-Port Expansion Board.    Disconnect the following white curved plate in the middle and lay the cable underneath in between studs. Reconnect the curved plate over the top.     16.) We will now install lights to the panels on the right side. Follow the same methods used for the left panel lights to install lights to this side, starting with the top two panels. Install 2x Cool White 30cm Bit Lights as per below:   CAUTION: Do not forcefully reconnect the pin all the way through, as this may break the cable. It is important that the cable is laid inside one of the technic axle grooves before inserting the pin. Note – with the Bit Light installed, the technic axle pin will not re-insert the whole way through.   Connect Light 1:   Connect Light 2:   Turn On the Power to test!   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     17.) Install another 2x Cool White 30cm Bit Lights to the bottom panels as shown below:   CAUTION: Do not forcefully reconnect the pin all the way through, as this may break the cable. It is important that the cable is laid inside one of the technic axle grooves before inserting the pin. Note – with the Bit Light installed, the technic axle pin will not re-insert the whole way through.   Connect Light 1:   Connect Light 2:     18.) Stick 2x Adhesive Squares to the back of the 6-Port Expansion Board. Stick the expansion board to the back of the space station in the following position, then push in any excess 15cm connecting cable sticking out.   Turn ON the power to test the lights on the right panel of the ISS are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     19.) We will now install light to the front right of the ISS. Take out the remaining Cool White 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing the back, place the Bit Light over the following stud. Secure the Bit Light in place by connecting a provided Trans Clear Round Plate 1×1 over the top.   Bring the cable across to the left and thread it underneath the centre. Loop it around this centre section 4-5 times   Push out the light grey lever piece toward the left, then thread the cable through the space which leads to the other side. Slip the cable in between the lever and centre section, then push back the lever to secure the cable in place.   From the back of the set, pull the cable out and connect it to the 8-Port Expansion Board nearby. Turn ON the power to test this light is working OK.     20.) We will now install a flashing light to the left side. Take a Flashing White 15cm Bit Light and with the cable facing the back, place it over the following stud. Secure the light in place using another provided Trans Clear Round Plate 1×1.   Turn the set around to the back and disconnect the following section. Lay the cable down toward the left side in between studs, then reconnect the section over the top of the cable.   Connect the cable to a spare port on the 8-Port Expansion Board, then turn ON the power to test the flashing white light is working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     21.) We will now install a Blue light to the right side. Take out a Blue 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing the back, place it over the following stud. Secure the light in place by connecting a provided Trans Clear Round Plate 1×1 over the top as shown below:   Turn the set around to the back and disconnect the following section. Lay the cable down toward the right, in between studs, then reconnect the section over the top of the cable.   Bring the cable down and thread it through the hole of the technic brick underneath the white wing. Pull the cable all the way out from the other side of the technic brick, then thread it back underneath toward the right side. Pull the cable out from the other side and connect it to a spare port on the 8-Port Expansion Board. Turn ON the power to test the Blue Light is working OK.     22.) Turn the set around to the back and take out the remaining Blue 30cm Bit Light. With the cable facing the back (front of the ISS), place the Bit Light over the following stud. Secure the Bit Light in place by connecting the remaining provided Trans Clear Round Plate 1×1 over the top.   Bring the cable behind, then underneath and loop it around this section twice (behind the black ball piece), then continue to thread it towards the middle section.   Disconnect the white wing section, as well as the following round piece, and lay the cable in between studs. Reconnect this piece over the top, then connect the Bit Light to the 8-Port Expansion Board.   Turn ON the power to test the rear Blue light is working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     23.) The final step is to mount the 8-port expansion board and neaten up cables. Stick 2x Adhesive squares to the back of the 8-Port Expansion Board, then stick it vertically in the following position on the back of the ISS.   Pull up the excess connecting cable from the strip light, then twist and fold up all the Bit Light cables into a neat bunch. Reconnect the white wing section, then hide the bunched up cables underneath.

Important things to note:

Laying cables in between and underneath bricks

Cables can fit in between and underneath LEGO® bricks, plates, and tiles providing they are laid correctly between the LEGO® studs. Do NOT forcefully join LEGO® together around cables; instead ensure they are laying comfortably in between each stud.

CAUTION: Forcing LEGO® to connect over a cable can result in damaging the cable and light.

Connecting cable connectors to Expansion Boards

Take extra care when inserting connectors to ports of Expansion Boards. Connectors can be inserted only one way. With the expansion board facing up, look for the soldered “=” symbol on the left side of the port. The connector side with the wires exposed should be facing toward the soldered “=” symbol as you insert into the port. If a plug won’t fit easily into a port connector, do not force it.

Incorrectly inserting the connector can can result in bent pins inside the port or possible overheating of the expansion board when connected.  

Connecting cable connectors to Strip Lights

Take extra care when inserting connectors to ports on the Strip Lights. Connectors can be inserted only one way. With the Strip Light facing up, ensure the side of the connector with the wires exposed is facing down. If a plug won’t fit easily into a port connector, don’t force it. Doing so will damage the plug and the connector.

Connecting Micro Cable connectors to Micro Expansion Board Ports

Take extra care when inserting the micro connectors to micro ports of Micro Expansion Boards. Connecting Micro Bit Lights to Micro Expansion Boards is similar to connecting lights and cables to Strip Lights. With the expansion board facing up, ensure the side of the connector with the wires exposed is facing down. If a plug won’t fit easily into a port connector, do not force it. Use your fingernail to push the plastic part of the connector to the micro port.  

Installing Bit Lights under LEGO® bricks and plates.

When installing Bit Lights under LEGO® pieces, ensure they are placed the correct way up (Yellow LED component exposed). You can either place them directly on top of LEGO® studs or in between.

 

OK, Let’s Begin!

  1.) Disconnect the following sections from the back of the excavator.     2.) Disassemble the following two light sections, then take a White 30cm Bit Light and thread the connector end through the technic hole on the front of the right light section. Thread the cable all the way through, then carefully bend the LED flat against the edge of the brick. Secure the light in place by connecting a provided Round Plate 1×1 (Trans Clear) over the top.   Take a provided Round Plate 1×1 with Open Stud (Yellow) and connect it to the technic hole on the top, then install another White 30cm Bit Light to this hole. Secure it in place using a provided Round Plate 1×1 (Trans Orange)     3.) Reconnect this section, then connect the Bit Light cable from the trans clear plate to an 8-Port Expansion Board. Connect the Bit Light cable from the trans orange plate to a 6-Port Expansion Board.   Bring the 6-Port Expansion Board through the middle and pull it out from the bottom.     4.) Install another 2x White 30cm Bit Lights to the left light section, using another provided Round Plate 1×1 (Trans Clear) for the front light, and a Round Plate 1×1 with Open Stud (Yellow) andRound Plate 1×1 (Trans Orange) for the top light.     5.) Reconnect the light section to the back of the excavator, then bring the cable from the trans orange plate through the middle and pull it out from the bottom. Connect it to the 6-port Expansion Board.   Connect a 5cm Connecting Cable to the 6-Port Expansion Board, then connect the other end of the cable to one of the OUT ports on the Multi Effects Board 3PFX (side with 2 ports). Set the effect switch to the middle for the “emergency effect” and turn the speed wheel all the way to the left for the slowest speed. Alternatively, you can configure to your desired speed when we connect the battery pack up later.     6.) Remove the following light section from the rear right side, then partially disconnect the following panel on the right. Disassemble the light section and install a White 30cm Bit Light to it. Secure the LED in place using a provided Round Plate 1×1 (Trans Clear).   Thread the Bit Light cable through the following space before reconnecting the light section. Ensure the cable is laid underneath as shown below:   Pull the cable out from the back and connect it to the 8-Port Expansion Board.     7.) Connect a 30cm Connecting Cable to the 8-Port Expansion Board, then thread the other end of the cable up the same gap we threaded the bit light cable down. Pull the cable all the way up from above, then close up the gap from the panel on the right we disconnected earlier.   Bring the 8-Port Expansion Board through the middle section and out through the bottom     8.) Take the Bit Light from the trans clear plate on the rear left side, and thread it through the middle section. Pull it out from the bottom and connect it to a spare port on the 8-Port Expansion Board.   Connect a 5cm Connecting Cable to the 8-Port Expansion Board, then connect the other end of the cable to the IN port (+5V) on the Multi Effects Board.     9.) Disconnect the light section from the middle then repeat the same method used in step 6. to install another White 30cm Bit Light to it, securing it in place using another provided Round Plate 1×1 (Trans Clear).   Thread the bit light cable through the following gap and pull it down from the bottom of the panel. Reconnect the light section, then connect the cable to the 8-port expansion board. Turn the light section around, then secure the cable in between grey pieces     10.) Lift up the door panel on the top, then take the AA Battery Pack and insert 3x NEW AA Batteries to it. Place the battery pack inside this section with the battery pack cable threaded down. Pull the cable out from the bottom and connect it to the 8-Port Expansion Board.   Turn the Battery Pack ON to test all the lights installed so far are working OK. Adjust the effects as desired.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     11.) Disconnect the following sections from the top.   Disconnect the following pieces from the light section on the bottom left of the vehicle.     12.) Thread the LED end of a new White 30cm Bit Light down the following space, then connect the connector end of the cable to a new 6-Port Expansion Board.   Carefully flip the excavator onto it’s right side and pull the LED end of the Bit Light out from the bottom. Flip the excavator back over, then thread the Bit Light we pulled down, through and in between the following white pieces.   Disconnect the trans orange tile, then bring the cable underneath and place the Bit Light over the yellow stud. Secure it in place using a provided Round Plate 1×1 (Trans Orange)   Reconnect pieces surrounding the light section, then disconnect and reconnect the white brick over the cable to secure it in place.     13.) Disconnect the following light section from behind the control seat. Disassemble it and connect a provided Round Plate 1×1 with Open Stud (Yellow) to it. Install a White 30cm Bit Light, securing it in place with a provided Round Plate 1×1 (Trans Orange)     14.) Reconnect this section then disconnect the white piece to the right and thread the cable through and in between the blue pins. Pull the cable all the way out, then tuck it in between sections. Reconnect the white piece.   Thread the cable down behind the control section and underneath the railing. Thread the cable down the following space, pulling it out through the space where the battery pack is. Thread the cable back under toward the left side and pull it up the space on the top left. Pull the cable out and connect it to a spare port on the 6-Port Expansion Board (same expansion board we connected the bottom left light to).   Secure the Bit Light cable in between the following pieces.     15.) Connect a 15cm Connecting Cable to the 6-Port Expansion Board, then thread the cable down the following space and pull it out from the back of the excavator. Bring the cable through the middle panel and pull it out from the bottom. Connect the cable to the other OUT port on the Multi Effects Board.   Turn the Battery Pack ON to test the emergency lights we have installed are working OK. They should be flashing in alternate sequence to the rear lights on the top.     Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     16.) Take another 30cm Connecting Cable and thread it down the following open space where the battery pack is placed. Pull the cable out from the bottom and connect it to the remaining port on the 8-Port Expansion Board. Thread the other end of the cable through to the section above, then toward the left (underneath the railing).     Neaten up the Bit Light cables on the bottom of the rear side by twisting/folding them into a neat bunch, then tuck all the components and cables up into the section above.     17.) Reconnect all the rear sections we disconnected at the very beginning of this guide.     18.) Disconnect the following panel just above the Liebherr sign, then thread the other end of the 30cm Connecting Cable from above down the space, pulling it out from underneath as shown below.   Connect the cable to a White Strip Light. Take another 15cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the spare port on the Strip Light. Using it’s adhesive backing, stick the strip light underneath the rail platform in the following position.       19.) Tuck the 30cm Connecting Cable in, then thread the other end of the 15cm Connecting Cable through this space and pull it out from the top side and connect it to a new 8-Port Expansion Board.   Tuck the 15cm Connecting Cable inside, then reconnect the panel we removed earlier. Turn ON the power to test the strip light is working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.   Reconnect both sections above.     20.) Disconnect the following section behind the control seat, then disassemble it as per below.   Take a Rotating White 30cm Bit Light and thread the cable through a provided Round Plate 1×1 with Open Stud (Yellow). Connect a provided Cone 1×1 with Top Groove (Trans Orange) over the top of the rotating light, then reconnect this to the 2×2 tile.   Reconnect this tile ensuring the cable is laid toward the back. Press the cable down into the corner of the tile, before reconnecting the 1×2 tile over the top. Fold down the cable down the back of the section, then reconnect it to the top of the excavator.     21.) Thread the Rotating Bit Light cable underneath the railing and connect it to a spare port on the 8-Port Expansion Board. Secure the cable down in between bricks, and push it down in the corner to hide it as much as possible.   Turn the power ON to test the Rotating Light is working OK.     22.) Disconnect sections above the control chair.   Disconnect the front spot light section and disassemble it as per below:     23.) Install a White 30cm Bit Light in between studs, then fold the cable underneath the light grey plate. Thread the cable through the right technic brick hole before reconnecting it back to the excavator.     Thread the cable through the railing behind, then down the stairs. Thread it through the front and then pull it out from the top to then connect to the 8-port expansion board as shown below.   Turn the Battery Pack ON to test the light is working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     24.) Disconnect the light piece above and install another White 30cm Bit Light to it, the same way we did in the previous step.   Reconnect the light piece, then thread the cable behind in between white and dark grey pieces. Pull it out from behind, then thread it through the yellow hole. Pull the cable all the way out, then connect it to the 8-Port Expansion Board. Turn the Battery Pack ON to test the light is working OK.     25.) Fold down the left side of the control compartment and disconnect the trans clear tile. Install another White 30cm Bit Light to this section, following the images below. Secure the light in place using a provided Round Plate 1×1 (Trans Clear)   Thread the cable through the inside hole then pull it up toward the back. Secure the cable behind the technic axle pin, then connect the cable to the 8-Port Expansion Board.     26.) Disconnect the trans clear round tile from the other side and install another White 30cm Bit Light to it, same way we did in the previous step. Secure it in place with another provided Round Plate 1×1 (Trans Clear)   Thread the cable through the following hole in the centre, then pull it out from the other side and secure it behind the technic axle pin. Connect the bit light to a spare port on the 8-Port Expansion Board.     27.) Stick a new White 30cm Bit Light to an Adhesive Square. Thread the Bit Light (LED end) underneath the control compartment roof and mount it underneath in the following position.   Thread the cable behind the same technic axle pin we threaded the other cables behind, then connect it to the 8-port expansion board. Turn the Battery Pack ON to test all the lights installed so far are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     28.) Reconnect the roof sections, then neaten up cabling on the top by twisting and folding them into a neat bunch. Neatly tuck the components inside the space where all the cable tubes are as shown below.   Hide the cable going down the stairs by disconnecting sections and securing the cables underneath technic pins. Reconnect sections.   Turn the excavator over to the right side, then disconnect the following rail section and tuck in all the cables outside the control compartment.     29.) Disconnect the two rail sections as well as the trans clear covering.   Locate the spare 30cm Connecting Cable on this side and thread it through the railing. Connect the cable to a Red Strip Light. Take a 15cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the other port, then with it’s adhesive backing, stick the Strip Light inside the exterior wall (strip light facing in) as shown below.     30.) Thread the cable through the centre of the engine barrels, then underneath the white long horizontal technic brick. Connect it to a new 6-Port Expansion Board     31.) Disconnect the two light sections from the front left of the excavator as well as the section above. Disassemble and install 2x White 30cm Bit Lights to the light sections as shown below.   Reconnect one of the light sections to the bottom half ensuring the cable is facing down, then bring the cable up and thread it in between the technic pieces to the inside of the barrel section. Ensure the cable is laid underneath the light grey plate (bottom right corner) and then directly up the front panel. Thread the cable underneath the white long horizontal technic brick and connect it to the 6-Port Expansion Board.     32.) Thread the Bit Light cable from the other light section through the following technic hole, then reconnect the light section to the front panel.Thread the cable underneath the white long horizontal technic brick and connect it to the 6-Port Expansion Board.   Hide the cable going up the front panel by slightly disconnecting the white panels and slipping the cable in between them. Reconnect the front rail section on top.   Turn the Battery Pack ON to test the red strip light and front lights are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     33.) Disconnect the following light piece, then follow the below images to disassemble and install the remaining White 30cm Bit Light to it.   Thread the cable through the following space, then loop it around the red technic axle pin before reconnecting the light section. Pull the cable all the way out from behind.     34.) Thread the cable through the following yellow piece hole, then connect it to the 6-Port Expansion Board. Turn the battery pack ON to test all the lights are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     35.) Neaten up the cables by twisting and folding them into a neat bunch, then neatly tuck all the components inside the tube section to conceal all the components.   Reconnect sections we removed earlier.

Installing Bit Lights under LEGO® bricks and plates.

OK, Let’s Begin!

  1.) Disconnect the following pieces from the front of the Millennium Falcon     2.) Install 2x Cool White 30cm Bit Lights underneath the trans red round plates, then fold the cables down underneath the grey tile before reconnecting it to the ship.       3.) Bring both cables underneath the ship and lay them underneath the following sections. Ensure cables are laid in between studs.       4.) Secure the cables underneath the following plate, then connect them to an 8-Port Expansion Board. Insert 3x New AA Batteries to the AA Battery Pack, then connect the battery pack cable to a spare port on the expansion board.   Carefully flip the ship over and turn the Battery Pack ON to test the two front lights are working OK.     Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     5.) Remove sections surrounding the cockpit, to allow us to install a Cool White 30cm Bit Light.   Install the Bit Light LED facing down, then push it slightly up.     6.) Thread the cable through the following hole to lead underneath the ship. Continue threading the cable through the following holes.     Disconnect the two Cool White Bit Lights from the expansion board, then thread them through the following holes. Take the Cool White Bit Light cable from the cockpit and thread it through the same hole, then connect all three cables to the 8-port expansion board.     7.) Carefully flip the ship back over and reconnect the minifigs and wind shield, ensuring the bit light cable is carefully tucked under.   Turn the Battery Pack ON to test all lights are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     8.) Disconnect the AA Battery Pack from the expansion board, then lift up the following roof panel and disconnect the following roof section behind. Connect a 30cm Connecting Cable to a White Strip Light and stick it underneath this roof section. Reconnect this section to the ship.   Tuck the cable in, then bring it underneath the ship and thread it through the following holes to lead towards to where the 8-port expansion board is situated.     Connect the cable to a spare port on the expansion board, then connect the AA Battery Pack again and turn it ON to test the strip light is working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     9.) Lift up the following roof panels, then connect a 15cm Connecting Cable to another White Strip Light. Stick the strip light to a provided LEGO Plate 1×6 then mount it underneath the roof panel as shown below.   Close the panel and thread the cable down underneath the ship through the following gaps and holes to connect to the 8-Port Expansion Board, then turn ON the battery pack to test the lights are working OK.     10.) Secure the connecting cable underneath the panel clips by disconnecting the panel, feeding the cable in between clips and reconnecting the panel over the cable.   Disconnect the AA Battery Pack from the expansion board, then twist the cables connected to the expansion board into a neat bunch.     11.) Lift up the following roof panel. Connect a 50cm Connecting Cable to another White Strip Light, then connect a 15cm Connecting Cable to the other port. Using it’s adhesive backing, stick the strip light to a provided LEGO Plate 1×6.   Mount the strip light underneath the roof panel (with the 50cm cable on the right side), then secure both cables underneath the panel in between the clips.     12.) Disconnect the rear horizontal panels via the clips on the right, then bring the 50cm Connecting Cable behind and loop it around the clips on the left twice to eliminate excess cable.   Reconnect the panel, then bring the cable underneath and thread it down the following space. Pull the cable down securely, then bring the cable underneath the ship. Flip the ship over and thread the cable through the following holes to connect it to a spare port on the 8-Port Expansion Board.   Disconnect the following dark grey plate and lay the 50cm cable underneath in between studs. Reconnect the plate over the top.     13.) Lift up the back roof panels and thread the AA Battery Pack cable down the following hole. Disconnect the beige coloured  plate, then position the battery pack inside ensuring the switch is facing up. Secure the Battery Pack from moving around by repositioning the following crate above.   Close the rear roof panels to securely hold the AA Battery Pack, then carefully flip the ship over (to prevent the AA Battery pack from falling out) and pull the battery pack cable out from underneath.     14.) Connect a 15cm Connecting Cable to a 2-Port Expansion Board, then connect the Battery Pack cable underneath the ship to the other port.   Connect the other end of the 15cm Connecting Cable to a spare port on the 8-port expansion board, then secure the cable underneath the following dark grey plate as well as the black curved plate toward the right.   Turn ON the Battery Pack to test the lights installed so far are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     15.) Take the other end of the 15cm cable from the back of the ship and thread it down the space behind the clips, then disconnect the long grey horizontal bar from the top.   Disconnect the right side of the bottom horizontal bar and bring the 15cm cable up underneath before reconnecting the bar.     16.) Connect the 15cm Cable to a White Strip Light. Connect another 2x White Strip Lights to the first strip light using 2x 5cm Connecting Cables.     17.) Stick the first two Strip Lights underneath the angled tiles above the jet lights, then tuck in any excess cable to the right and left gaps as shown below.     18.) Lift up the following roof panel, then disconnect the hyperdrive unit and disassemble it as per below.   Place the Rotating White 30cm Bit Light inside and secure it in place by reconnecting the trans blue wheel. Wind the excess cable around the wheel several times until you have about 8-10cm of cable left.     19.) Reconnect the hyperdrive unit to the ship and thread the cable down underneath the panel clips, pulling it down from the outside. Disconnect the left clips from the bottom horizontal bar, then connect the rotating bit light cable to the third Strip Light.   Stick the strip light underneath the tiles above the jet lights. Tuck in the excess cables on each side, then reconnect the left side of the horizontal bar.   Reconnect the horizontal bar on the top of the jet lights, then turn ON the AA Battery Pack to test all the lights are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     20.) Disconnect the upper cannon section, then disassemble it as shown below.     21.) Install 4x Cool White 30cm Bit Lights to the 2×2 plate ensuring all the cables are laid as shown below.   Insert 4x Provided Bar 4L Trans Red, then reconnect this section to the cannon base.     22.) Twist the cables around each other to braid the 4 cables together about 10cm down from the top. Reconnect sections, then reconnect this section to the top of the ship while bringing the cables around the right side.   Connect the four bit light cables to the 4 OUT ports on the Gun Effects Board. Set the effect switch to the far right setting for the “Laser Gun” effect. Alternatively, you can choose from the 2 other programmed effects (cannon, machine gun)     23.) Connect a 15cm Connecting Cable to the IN port (+5V), then remove the control chair from inside. Thread the cable all the way down the following hole inside, then close the panel and carefully place the ship onto it’s right side so we can access underneath.  Pull the cable out from underneath and connect it to the remaining port on the 8-Port Expansion Board.   Secure the connecting cable underneath the following dark grey plate.   Turn ON the Battery Pack to test the upper cannon lights and effects are working OK. Each cannon light should be firing individually at a time in sequence.       24.) Eliminate excess cables from the cannon lights by twisting and folding them together into a neat bunch. Ensure you leave enough cable slack for the cannon to move from side to side. Reconnect the control chair inside, then neatly place all the components inside before closing the panel.

Important things to note:

Laying cables in between and underneath bricks

Cables can fit in between and underneath LEGO® bricks, plates, and tiles providing they are laid correctly between the LEGO® studs. Do NOT forcefully join LEGO® together around cables; instead ensure they are laying comfortably in between each stud.

CAUTION: Forcing LEGO® to connect over a cable can result in damaging the cable and light.

Connecting cable connectors to Expansion Boards

Take extra care when inserting connectors to ports of Expansion Boards. Connectors can be inserted only one way. With the expansion board facing up, look for the soldered “=” symbol on the left side of the port. The connector side with the wires exposed should be facing toward the soldered “=” symbol as you insert into the port. If a plug won’t fit easily into a port connector, do not force it.

Incorrectly inserting the connector can can result in bent pins inside the port or possible overheating of the expansion board when connected.  

Connecting cable connectors to Strip Lights

Take extra care when inserting connectors to ports on the Strip Lights. Connectors can be inserted only one way. With the Strip Light facing up, ensure the side of the connector with the wires exposed is facing down. If a plug won’t fit easily into a port connector, don’t force it. Doing so will damage the plug and the connector.

Connecting Micro Cable connectors to Micro Expansion Board Ports

Take extra care when inserting the micro connectors to micro ports of Micro Expansion Boards. Connecting Micro Bit Lights to Micro Expansion Boards is similar to connecting lights and cables to Strip Lights. With the expansion board facing up, ensure the side of the connector with the wires exposed is facing down. If a plug won’t fit easily into a port connector, do not force it. Use your fingernail to push the plastic part of the connector to the micro port.  

Installing Bit Lights under LEGO® bricks and plates.

When installing Bit Lights under LEGO® pieces, ensure they are placed the correct way up (Yellow LED component exposed). You can either place them directly on top of LEGO® studs or in between.

 

OK, Let’s Begin!

  1.) Lift up the bonnet, then remove the following sections in order for us to remove the two headlight sections as shown below.     2.) Take the right headlight section (passenger side) and disassemble it as per below, then take a Cool White 30cm Bit Light and thread the connector end of it through the front of the round dish. Thread the cable all the way through until the LED is about 1cm away from the front of the dish. Turn the LED over so that it is facing forward.   Take another Cool White 30cm Bit Light and thread it through the front of the dish, same way we did for the first light.     3.) Continue threading another 2x Cool White 30cm Bit Lights through the dish, then take LEGO Bar we removed earlier and insert it through the technic axle hole. Ensure the cables are laid in the technic axle spaces, to prevent them from being damaged when inserting the bar.   Reposition the 4 LEDs so they are evenly spaced out and positioned over the circles on the stickers behind, then reconnect the trans clear dish over the top. Reconnect the headlight to the rest of this section via the technic bar.     4.) Turn this section around and bring the 4 cables across to the right side underneath the technic pin. Bring this section over to the left side of the vehicle and thread the cables in between the two sections as shown below. Reconnect the headlight via the technic vertical axle.   Group the 4 cables together and thread them down the following space behind the front grill. Prop the vehicle up using your light kit box, then pull the cables down from underneath as shown below.     5.) Flip the vehicle over and thread the four cables through the following space underneath the technic bars, pulling them all the way out from the other side as shown below.   Turn the vehicle around to the side, and bring the cables back over and loop them around the wheel axis 3-4 times to eliminate excess cables, then connect them to the 12-Port Expansion Board   Take the AA Battery Pack and insert 3x new AA batteries to it. Connect the battery pack cable to a spare port on the 12-port expansion board then turn it ON to test the right headlights are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     6.) Take the following remaining head light sections and reassemble and connect them back to the front of the vehicle. Reconnect all the sections we disconnected earlier from the right side.     7.) Repeat steps 2 – 6 to install another 4x Cool White 30cm Bit Lights to the left headlight section.     8.) Reconnect this section to the rest via the black technic bar, then turn this section over and bring the cables across to the right side, underneath the technic pin.   Bring this section over to the left side of the vehicle and thread the cables in between the two sections as shown below. Reconnect the headlight via the technic vertical axle.     9.) Group the 4 cables together and thread them down the following space behind the front grill. Prop the vehicle up using your light kit box, then pull the cables down from underneath as shown below.   Flip the vehicle over and bring the four cables across to the right side, then thread them underneath the following technic pieces, pulling them all the way out from the other side.   Ensure the cables are laid around the following section, then connect them to the left ports on the 12-port expansion board. Turn the power ON to test the left headlights are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     10.) Take the following remaining head light sections and reassemble and connect them back to the front of the vehicle. Reconnect all the sections we disconnected earlier surrounding the left side.     11.) Flip the vehicle back over again and disconnect the AA Battery Pack from the expansion board. Pull the four cables from the left headlight all the way out near the expansion board to eliminate any excess cable, then twist them around each other to form a neat bunch.   Turn the vehicle over to the side, then tuck the bunched up cables through one of the technic plate holes as shown below. Take 3x Adhesive Squares and stick them to the back of the 12-port expansion board, then stick the expansion board to the following position.     12.) Flip the vehicle back over and disconnect the roof by first removing the following two technic pins from the top as well as the two from each side.   Lift up the roof, then disconnect the back of it from the technic pins.     13.) Take out a White Strip Light and connect a 15cm Connecting Cable to it, then using it’s adhesive backing, stick the strip light underneath the roof in the following position. Ensure the 15cm cable is facing down as per below.   Thread the other end of the connecting cable through the following technic brick holes. Pull the cable all the way out from the other side.     14.) Disconnect the following group of technic pieces from the main section of the roof then continue to thread the connecting cable through the middle hole.   Disconnect the grey technic pieces from the back of the section we removed earlier, then reconnect it to the main roof section, ensuring the cable is laid out underneath of it.   Fold the tip of the connecting cable into a “hook” shape, then hook the cable through the following hole on the technic pieces, then reconnect them to the grey technic pins, while pulling the cable out from the other side.     15.) Connect the cable to a new White Strip Light, then take a 30cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the strip light’s right port. Using it’s adhesive backing, stick the strip light to the roof in the following position. Ensure the 30cm cable is facing up as shown below   Reconnect the roof to the vehicle, then secure it down by reconnecting the two grey technic pins on the top, as well as the two brown technic pins to the right side.   Turn the vehicle over to it’s left side and reconnect the grey technic pin on the top. Leave the two brown technic pins from the left side disconnected for now.     16.)  Disconnect the following white technic piece, then take the 30cm connecting cable from the roof and bring it towards the front. Slip the cable in between the white and black technic pieces.   Reconnect the two brown technic pins to the side to secure the roof, then reconnect the white technic piece we removed earlier.   Bring the connecting cable down the left side of the windscreen, then disconnect the following tile and lay the cable under the light grey stud before reconnecting the tile over the top.     17.) Bring the connecting cable down and thread it through the following space behind the front wheel, then turn the vehicle onto it’s side so we can access underneath.   Pull the connecting cable down and thread it through the following technic hole near the expansion board. Pull the cable all the way out from below, then loop the cable and thread it back through the same hole. Repeat this to loop the cable through the hole twice (to eliminate excess cable), then connect the cable to a spare port on the 12-Port Expansion Board.     Take the AA Battery Pack and connect it to a spare port on the expansion board, then turn it ON to test the internal strip lights are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     18.) Disconnect the AA battery Pack from the expansion board again, then take out a new 30cm Connecting Cable and connect it to a spare port.   Bring the 30cm cable toward the back of the vehicle and thread it underneath the following grey technic pieces. Pull the cable all the way down from below, then loop the cable over the technic pieces above.   Loop the cable around these pieces a second time, then connect it to a 6-Port Expansion Board.     19.) Place the AA Battery Pack inside the vehicle in the back seat, then thread the battery pack cable down the following space on the right side of the vehicle. Pull the battery pack cable down from underneath the vehicle and connect it to a spare port on the 6-port Expansion Board.   Ensure you position the battery pack so that the switch is accessible.     20.) We will now install the tail lights starting from the left side. Disconnect the panel above the wheel, then open the back door and disconnect the following pieces in order for us to remove the left tail light section as shown below:     Disassemble the tail light section as per below and discard the two white round plates. Take out the provided LEGO pieces, 2x Round Plate 1×1 with Open Stud (Black).      21.) Take a Red 30cm Bit Light and with the LED facing up and cable to the right, place it over the inside of the following plate. Secure the Bit Light in place by connecting one of the provided Round Plate 1×1 with open stud over the top, then reconnect one of the trans red plates.   Repeat this step to install another Red 30cm Bit Light to this tail light section.     22.) Reconnect the tail light section to the back of the vehicle ensuring you first thread both cables through the back, then reconnect some of the pieces we disconnected earlier.   Pull out both Red Bit Light cables from behind the back wheel.     23.) Turn the vehicle onto it’s right side so we can access underneath, then pull the cable down and thread it underneath the wheel axle. Pull the cables all the way out from the other side.   Thread the cable through the middle of the wheel axle and pull it all the way out from the back side.   Thread the cables through the following technic hole in the axle. Loop the cables through a second time to secure and eliminate excess cabling. Connect both cables to the 6-Port Expansion Board, then turn the Battery Pack ON to test the tail lights are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.   Reconnect the panel above the rear left wheel.     24.) Repeat steps 20-22. to install another 2x Red 30cm Bit Lights to the right tail light section using another provided 2x Round Plate 1×1 with Open Stud (Black). Ensure this time, the two bit light cables are laid in the opposite direction as we did for the left tail light section lights.     25.) Thread both Bit Light cables from the right tail light section through the back of the vehicle, then pull them out from behind the rear wheel. Reconnect the tail light section as well as some of the sections we removed earlier.   Turn the vehicle onto it’s left side so that we can access underneath, then thread both Bit Light cables underneath the wheel axle as shown below. Pull the cables all the way out from the other side.   Thread the cables through the middle of the wheel axle, pulling it all the way out from the back side.   Thread the cables through the following technic hole, then loop it through the same hole again to secure and eliminate excess cabling. Connect the two cables to the 6-Port Expansion Board.     26.) Take 3x Adhesive Squares and stick them to the back of the 6-Port Expansion Board. Mount the expansion board underneath the vehicle to the following position.   Eliminate any excess cables by twisting and folding them around each other into a neat bunch. Ensure that the wheels can still turn left and right.   Flip the Defender over and reconnect the Technic piece above the rear wheel. Turn the AA Battery Pack ON to test all the lights are working OK.  

This finally completes installation of the Light My Bricks Land Rover Defender 42110 Light Kit.

OK, Let’s Begin!

  1.) We will start by installing lights to the left section of the stadium. First disconnect all the main sections, then take the left section and disconnect the roof via the railing clips towards the inside.     2.) Disconnect the top section of seats, then take out the USB Power Cable and thread the connector end of the cable through the left space. Pull the cable in through the inside where the seats were connect to and connect it to a White Strip Light.   Take a 15cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the strip light’s right port, then using it’s adhesive backing, stick the Strip Light underneath the top seat section in the following position. Ensure the 15cm cable is on the left side, with the clips on the bottom as shown below.   Reconnect this section to the stadium ensuring the 15cm connecting cable is laid out the left side.     3.) Connect the other end of the 15cm cable to a new White Strip Light. Take a 30cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the strip light’s right port.   Take the roof section and turn it over so we can access underneath. Using the adhesive backing, stick the Strip Light underneath the roof towards the front as shown below.   Secure the 15cm cable underneath the white tile on the left side, then reconnect the roof to the stadium.     4.) Bring the 30cm cable across to the right side, then secure it underneath the following plate of curved bricks. Loop the cable around the following stud underneath, then reconnect the plate of curved bricks.   Reconnect the railings on the top of the roof, then secure the USB Cable underneath the following tile on the outside.   Connect the USB cable to your USB Power Bank or wall adaptor (sold separately) to test the strip lights installed to this section are working OK.     5.) Bring the 30cm Connecting Cable towards the back and secure it underneath the curved brick on the very end. Reconnect this section to the field plate section.     6.) Take the middle section and turn it around to the outside. Disconnect the two white pillar sections from each side by disconnecting them via the technic pins.     7.) Turn this section around to the inside, then slightly lift up the entire roof to allow us to disconnect the following sections from the middle section of seats.     8.) Take 2x Blue Strip Lights and connect them together using a 5cm Connecting Cable. Connect another 5cm Connecting Cable onto the end of one of the strip lights, then connect the end of this cable to a 2-Port Expansion Board.   Take a 15cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the end of the other blue strip light.     9.) Disconnect the right side from the left section of seats, then using the adhesive backings, stick the two Blue Strip Lights to the following positions.     10.) Turn this section around to the outside again and disconnect the vertical section of trans blue tiles. Disconnect the top tile, then take out a Blue 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing up, place it in the centre of the black studs. Reconnect the trans blue tile over the top to secure the light in place, then reconnect this section back to the stadium.   From the inside of the stadium, pull the blue bit light cable in and tuck it behind the seat section.     11.) Turn this section around to the outside again, and disconnect the vertical section of trans blue tiles from the left side. Disconnect the top tile, then take out a Blue 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing down, place it in the centre of the black studs. Reconnect the trans blue tile over the top to secure the light in place, then reconnect this section back to the stadium.   From the inside of the stadium, pull the blue bit light cable in and tuck it behind the right seat section.   Take the 15cm Connecting Cable from the Blue Strip Light, as well as the two Blue Bit Light cables and connect them to the 8-Port Expansion Board.     12.) Turn the section back around to the front, then take out the following provided LEGO pieces in order to build two spotlights:
  • 2x Round Plate 1×1 with Open Stud (Black)
  • 2x Black 1×1 Modified Plate Rounded with Handle 
  • 2x Arm Skeleton, Bent with Clips at 90 degrees (Any Colour)
  Take a White 15cm Bit Light and thread the connector end of the cable through the bottom of one of the black round plates with open stud. Thread the Bit Light all the way through, then carefully bend the LED so that it is directly facing upwards, before placing it flat inside the LEGO plate.   Connect this plate to the rounded handle plate, then thread the connector end of the cable through the handle space underneath. Pull the cable all the way out, then connect the skeleton arm piece to it as per below.   Repeat this method to install another White 15cm Bit Light to the provided LEGO pieces.     13.) Take one of the spot lights and thread the connector end of the cable through the following gap above the Manchester United sign. Thread the cable through, then pull it all the way out from the inside of the stadium. Connect the spot light to the railing via the skeleton arm, then position the spot light so that it shines onto the left area of the Manchester United sign.   Repeat this step to connect the other spotlight.   From the inside of the stadium, take both White Bit Lights and connect them to the next available ports on the 8-Port Expansion Board.     14.) Take out 2x White Strip Lights and connect them together using a 5cm Connecting Cable. Take a 30cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the left Strip Light’s spare port.   Using the adhesive backings, stick the two strip lights underneath the roof of this middle section in the following positions.     15.) Bring the 30cm Connecting Cable down the left side toward the back, then tuck the cable in behind the top row seat section.   Connect the 30cm Connecting Cable to the next available port on the 8-Port Expansion Board.     16.) Take 2x 15cm Connecting Cables and connect them to the two remaining ports on the expansion board.   Take the other end of one of the 15cm cables and connect it to a Blue Strip Light. Connect another 5cm Connecting Cable to the strip light’s other port, then connect the other end of the 5cm cable to another Blue Strip Light.   Take another 5cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the end of the Blue Strip Light. Connect the other end of the cable to a 2-Port Expansion Board.     17.) Disconnect the left side of the right section of seats, then using the adhesive backings from each blue strip light, stick them to the following positions.   Tuck the 5cm Connecting Cable on the end behind the seat section, then reconnect the seat section, as well as the seat section from the left side.     18.) Neatly place all the cables and expansion board behind the centre row of seats, leaving the spare 15cm cable out. Ensure the cables are tucked in behind the lego pieces and bars where the middle seat section will reconnect to.   Connect the spare end of the 15cm cable to a new White Strip Light. Connect a 5cm Connecting Cable to the other end of the strip light, then connect the other end of the 5cm cable to another White Strip Light. Take the entire middle seat section and turn it over so we can access underneath. Using the adhesive backings, stick both strip lights underneath this section in the following positions, then reconnect this section to the stadium.     19.) Reconnect the red horizontal railing section, then bring down the top row of seats to original position.   Bring the middle stadium section and left section closer together and connect the 30cm connecting cable from the left section to the 2-port expansion board from the left side of the middle section. Feed the excess cable in underneath the seat section toward the right, then securely reconnect both sections together.   Reconnect the four white vertical pillar sections to the outside of the stadium.   Turn ON the power to test all the stadium lights we have installed so far are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light or expansion board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     20.) Disconnect the middle section from the field section, then disconnect the right section from the field plate. Disconnect the railings from the right section via the clips, then disconnect the roof.     21.) Disconnect top row seat section, then turn this section around to the outside. Take out the following provided LEGO pieces and follow the method used in step 12. to assemble two spotlights using 2x White 15cm Bit Lights.  
  • 2x Round Plate 1×1 with Open Stud (Black)
  • 2x Black 1×1 Modified Plate Rounded with Handle 
  • 2x Arm Skeleton, Bent with Clips at 90 degrees (Any Colour)
  Connect this plate to the rounded handle plate, then thread the connector through the space underneath. Pull the cable all the way out, then connect the skeleton arm piece on a different angle to the previous spot lights. Ensure you connect the clip arm with the other side facing upward, as per below.   Repeat this step to install the other spotlight.     22.) Using your LEGO Removal Tool, create a gap just above the grey wall pieces above the Manchester United sign. Thread one of the spotlight cables all the way through this gap, then connect it to the following rail. Position the spotlight toward the right and bend it slightly down so that it will shine onto the right area of the Manchester United sign. Bring the cable over the left stud so that it is laid closer to the spotlight.   Thread the other spotlight cable through the following space on the left side, then connect it to the railing on the left. Position the spotlight slightly toward the left and bend it down to shine onto the Manchester United sign.     23.) Reconnect the bricks to close up the gap, then turn this section around and connect the two White Bit Lights to a 6-Port Expansion Board.   Take 2x 5cm Connecting Cables and a 15cm Connecting Cable, and connect them all to spare ports on the 6-Port Expansion Board. Ensure you connect one of the 5cm cables to the far right port on the expansion board.     24.) Take the 5cm Cable on the right side and thread it through the gap on the right. Pull the cable out from the other side (East Stand) and connect it to a 2-Port Expansion Board.   Thread the 15cm Cable through the space on the left side, pulling it all the way out from the other side.     25.) Take the spare 5cm cable from the expansion board and connect it to the right port on a new White Strip Light. Take a 15cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the strip light’s other port.   Take the top seat section we removed earlier and turn it over so we can access underneath. Using it’s adhesive backing, stick the strip light underneath this seat section to the following position. Flip the section over and reconnect it to the stadium, ensuring the spare 15cm cable is on the left.     26.) Bring the 15cm cable up behind the top row of seats, then slightly disconnect the white 1×6 plate and loop the cable around the plate in between studs. Reconnect the white 1×6 plate to secure the cable in place.   Take the roof section and turn it over so we can access underneath. Connect the 15cm cable to a White Strip Light, then using it’s adhesive backing, stick it underneath the roof in the following position. Reconnect the roof via the clips.     27.) Bring the right section closer to the rest of the stadium and connect the 15cm cable to the 2-port expansion board from the right side of the middle section.   Push any excess cable in underneath the seat section from the middle section, then reconnect the right section to the field section. Reconnect all sections together as shown below.   Turn ON the power to test all the lights connected to the stadium are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light or expansion board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     28.) We will now light up the remaining section of the stadium, the front section. Take this section and turn it around to the inside and disconnect the roof via the clips.   Take a White Strip Light and connect a 5cm Connecting Cable to the left side, then connect a 15cm Connecting Cable to the right side. Using it’s adhesive backing, stick the strip light underneath the roof to the following position.     29.) Bring the 15cm cable down and thread it up under the white handle plate. Bring the cable over the left side of the handle, then pull the cable down to tighten the cable and prevent it from dangling down toward the middle.     30.) Connect the 15cm cable to a new White Strip Light. Take a new 5cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the right port, then connect the other end of the cable to another White Strip Light.   Take a 15cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the white strip light’s right port, then using the adhesive backing on the strip lights, stick both of them underneath the roof to the following positions.     31.) Bring the 15cm cable over the right side of the white handle, then thread it up through the space underneath. Pull the cable out from the top, then thread it through the handle again to create a double loop.   Connect the other end of the 15cm cable to the remaining White Strip Light, then using it’s adhesive backing, stick the strip light underneath the roof to the following position.     32.) Flip the roof section over and reconnect it to the stadium. Ensure the spare end of the 5cm Connecting Cable is accessible.   Bring the front section close to the right side section and connect the 5cm cable to the 2-port Expansion Board sticking out the right side.   Bring the front section closer to the rest of the stadium, then tuck the 2-port expansion board underneath the right side of the front roof section as shown below. Securely reconnect all sections together.   Turn ON the power to test all lights installed to the stadium are working OK.

Important things to note:

Laying cables in between and underneath bricks

Cables can fit in between and underneath LEGO® bricks, plates, and tiles providing they are laid correctly between the LEGO® studs. Do NOT forcefully join LEGO® together around cables; instead ensure they are laying comfortably in between each stud.

CAUTION: Forcing LEGO® to connect over a cable can result in damaging the cable and light.

Connecting cable connectors to Expansion Boards

Take extra care when inserting connectors to ports of Expansion Boards. Connectors can be inserted only one way. With the expansion board facing up, look for the soldered “=” symbol on the left side of the port. The connector side with the wires exposed should be facing toward the soldered “=” symbol as you insert into the port. If a plug won’t fit easily into a port connector, do not force it.

Incorrectly inserting the connector can can result in bent pins inside the port or possible overheating of the expansion board when connected.  

Connecting cable connectors to Strip Lights

Take extra care when inserting connectors to ports on the Strip Lights. Connectors can be inserted only one way. With the Strip Light facing up, ensure the side of the connector with the wires exposed is facing down. If a plug won’t fit easily into a port connector, don’t force it. Doing so will damage the plug and the connector.

Connecting Micro Cable connectors to Micro Expansion Board Ports

Take extra care when inserting the micro connectors to micro ports of Micro Expansion Boards. Connecting Micro Bit Lights to Micro Expansion Boards is similar to connecting lights and cables to Strip Lights. With the expansion board facing up, ensure the side of the connector with the wires exposed is facing down. If a plug won’t fit easily into a port connector, do not force it. Use your fingernail to push the plastic part of the connector to the micro port.  

Installing Bit Lights under LEGO® bricks and plates.

When installing Bit Lights under LEGO® pieces, ensure they are placed the correct way up (Yellow LED component exposed). You can either place them directly on top of LEGO® studs or in between.

 

OK, Let’s Begin!

  1.) We will first install the LED light bars inside the lightsaber blade. Disconnect the lightsaber from Yoda, then carefully detach the left side section as show below:   Disassemble the lightsaber, then disconnect half of the trans green round bricks to allow us to fully remove the white technic axle bar.     2.) Organise the lightsaber blade into two equally long sections, then take out an LED Light Bar 12cm. Thread the top of the bar through the bottom half of the blade (through the technic hole). Thread the bar all the way through, then pull it out from the top. Continue to thread the entire bar through the bottom of the top half of the blade as shown below. Bring the bottom half of the blade up and reconnect it to the top half.   Take the second LED Light Bar 12cm and thread the top of the bar all the way through the bottom of the blade until it meets the bottom of the first led light bar. The cable from the first light bar should be kept inside one of the four grooves from the Technic axle.   Note: The two LED Light Bars have been designed to allow you to cut them to size, in case you have a slightly shorter lightsaber blade due to display reasons (less trans bright green bricks in the blade). If you find the LED Bars are too long, simply cut them to size at the top end of the bar (not the cable end). Ensure that you cut the bar in between the LEDs and the cut is above the circuit board resister. It is completely safe to cut the board.    The bottom of the second LED Bar should end just before the base of the last trans bright green round brick.     3.) Group the ends of the two light bar cables together and thread them through the top of the three 2×2 round plates. Pull the cables all the way out from underneath the plates, then reconnect them to the bottom of the blade.   Ensure the two cables are laid together inside one of the axle hole grooves, then take the provided LEGO Bar 3L (any colour) and connect it to the axle hole. The provided LEGO bar will be used to hold the blade to the handle section. The cables should be secured neatly inside the axle groove as shown below:   Ensure the two cables are laid through the gap of the bottom of the light grey 2×2 round plate, then reconnect this entire section to the handle section via the provided LEGO bar. Ensure the cables are laid out the opposite side of the lightsaber button, then reconnect the upper part of the handle.     4.) Connect the two LED light bar cables to a 6-Port Expansion Board. Take a 5cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the end port on the expansion board, then connect the other end of the cable to one of the OUT ports on the Pulse Effects Board (PFX).   Take a 15cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the IN port on the Pulse Effects Board, then connect the other end of the cable to a new 6-Port Expansion Board.   Take a USB Power Cable and connect it to the end port on the 6-port Expansion Board from previous step, then connect the USB connection end to your USB Power Bank or wall adaptor (sold separately). Turn it ON to test the LED light bars in the blade are working OK. Take this time to configure your desired pulse effect by choosing from one of the three settings via the switch. Fast Pulse, Medium Pulse, Slow Pulse.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     5.) Take out the Light My Bricks Lightsaber Green and connect it to a spare port on the first 6-port expansion board (the same board the light bars are connected to).   Bring the Yoda left side section we disconnected at the start, then disconnect the following light grey 2×12 plate from the inside of it.     6.) Reconnect the lightsaber to Yoda’s hand ensuring the cables are laid behind. Bring the two cables down the inside of the left section and lay them inside as shown below. Reconnect the 2×12 plate with the cables laid underneath.   Fold the two cables into a neat bunch as shown below, then tuck it inside the following space, along with the 6-port expansion board and pulse effects board.   Carefully reconnect the entire left side section ensuring the cables are neatly laid out underneath.     7.) Take the RGB Control Board and connect a 5cm Connecting Cable to the IN port (+5V). Connect the other end of the connecting cable to a spare port on the 6-port expansion board near Yoda’s feet. Ensure the IR sensor from the RGB control board is facing up.   Take the Yoda display stand and turn it around, then take the following provided Black LEGO pieces:
  • Black Plate 1×6
  • Black Plate 1×2 modified w Handle on End 
  • Black Tile 1×1 w Clip 
  Connect the above pieces to the back of the Yoda display stand as shown below:     8.) Take an RGB Strip Light and connect an RGB Connecting Cable 15cm to one of the ports, then take another RGB Connecting Cable 15cm and connect it to the Strip Light’s other port. Using it’s adhesive backing, stick the Strip Light to the bottom of the black 1×6 plate we connected to the back of the display stand. Position the plate and strip light so that it is facing upward (to shine up onto Yoda)     9.) Take the below provided pieces and follow the images to assemble brackets for a right and left spotlight.
  • 2x Black Plate 1×6
  • 2x Black Plate 1×2 modified w Handle on End 
  • 2x Black Tile 1×1 w Clip 
  • 2x Black Dish Inverted 3×3
    10.) Take other end of the RGB Connecting Cable 15cm from the right side of the display stand and connect it to a new RGB Strip Light. Using the strip light’s adhesive backing, stick it onto the back of the 1×6 plate from the right spot light. Position the spot light on the right side of Yoda and tilt it upward so that it will shine up onto the right side.   Take the other end of the RGB Connecting Cable 15cm from the left side of the display stand and connect it to the remaining RGB Strip Light. Take remaining RGB Connecting Cable 15cm and connect it to the strip light’s other port. Using the strip light’s adhesive backing, stick it onto the back of the 1×6 plate from the left spot light.   Locate the spare end of the RGB 15cm Cable from previous step and connect it to one of the OUT ports on the RGB control Board located near Yoda’s feet. Position the spot light on the left side of Yoda and tilt it upward so that it will shine up onto the left side.     11.) Disconnect the minifig Yoda as well as it’s lightsaber. Connect the Light My Bricks Lightsaber Green to Yoda, then tuck the cable in between Yoda’s legs. Reconnect it to the display stand.   Neatly position the display stand in front of Yoda (so that the strip light attached behind will shine up onto Yoda), then neaten up the RGB control board and expansion board behind. Ensure the IR sensor on the control board is accessible to enable a clear line of sight signal for the remote control.     12.) Connect up your power source and turn everything ON. By default, the RGB Strip Lights are deactivated and need to be turned on via the RGB Remote Control. You can choose from 13 different colours and 5 different effects.

Installing Bit Lights under LEGO® bricks and plates.

When installing Bit Lights under LEGO® pieces, ensure they are placed the correct way up (Yellow LED component exposed). You can either place them directly on top of LEGO® studs or in between.

 

OK, Let’s Begin!

  1.) Seperate the two buildings, then remove the top two levels of the blue building as we will install lights to this side first. Disconnect the lamp post as well as the following piece behind the flower bed.   Using your LEGO removal tool, disconnect the following tiles and pieces.   Take out the Light My Bricks Lamp Post and connect it to the base plate (without the 2×2 plate underneath it). Lay the cable down towards the building ensuring it’s laid in between studs as shown below, then reconnect the brown 2×4 plate with flower connected, along with the light grey tiles and blue flower.     2.) Turn the set around, and disconnect the two side flowers. Take out a Pink 30cm Bit Light and with the LED facing up, place it in the following position in between the brown studs. Reconnect the purple flower piece.   Take a Blue 30cm Bit Light and with the LED facing up, place it in the following position in between the brown studs. With the cable laying down in between studs, reconnect the following white bricks over the top   Take the remaining Pink 30cm Bit Light and with the LED facing up, place it down in the following position in between the brown studs on the left. Reconnect the blue flower, then ensuring both cables from the Pink Bit Lights are laid in between studs, reconnect the dark grey bricks to secure them in place.     3.) Turn the set around to the front again and reconnect the following bricks and pieces.   Take out the 12-Port Expansion Board and connect the three Bit Lights and the Lamp Post cable to it.  Remove the ladder from it’s storage position.   Take the USB Power Cable and thread the connector end of the cable through the technic brick hole on the outside of the building on the right side. Pull the cable in from the inside of the building, then connect it to the far right port on the expansion board. Connect the USB connection end to your USB Power Bank or wall adaptor (sold separately) and turn it ON to test the lamp post and garden lights are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light or expansion board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     4.) Neaten up the cables from the lights by grouping them together and twisting and folding them into a neat bunch. Reconnect the ladder.   Take out the 50cm Connecting Cable and connect it to a spare port on the expansion board, then thread it through the technic brick hole that leads to the outside of the building (left side). Pull the cable all the way out from the outside. This cable will be used to connect up to the left building (book shop).   If you are connecting both sides of the building together, thread the cable through the black technic pin, then reconnect the pin to the bottom of the building.     5.) We will now light up the first floor starting with the two door lamps. First disconnect the long tile from above the front door, then remove the front door section. Slightly lift up the wall sections above each door lamp to allow us to remove the lamp sections as per below:   Disassemble each door lamp as shown below, then take out a White 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing the back of the lamp base, place it over the top of the stud. Secure the Bit Light in place by reconnecting the trans clear brick over the top. Repeat this step to install another White 30cm Bit Light to the other door lamp.   Reconnect the right lamp ensuring you first thread the cable behind and lay it down in between studs. Push down the wall section above, then do the same to reconnect the left lamp. Reconnect the front door section     6.) Turn this section around so we can access the inside of the front wall. Take the Bit Light cable from the right door lamp and pull it directly up. Lay the cable around the studs above, then secure it down by reconnecting the long white tile.   Turn this section around to the front and disconnect the following two tiles from the left side. Bring both the door lamp cables across and over the left wall, laying them in between the front two studs. Secure them down by reconnecting the two tiles.   Place this section onto it’s right side, then slightly disconnect the white 1×12 plate from underneath. Pull both cables down the left side of the building and then slip them underneath and in between studs. Secure them in place by reconnecting the white 1×12 plate.   Use tape to secure the two cables to the outside wall.     7.) We will now light up the fire place inside the first floor. Disconnect the following tiles, plates, and bricks surrounding the fire place, then disconnect the fire place section as shown below:   Disconnect the grey bricks from underneath the fire place, then disconnect the trans orange flame piece.     8.) Take a White 15cm Bit Light and seperate the two wires near the LED as shown below. With LED facing forward, place it over the black clip on the right side. Each separated wire should be laid over the left side of this clip. Secure the Bit Light in place by reconnecting the trans orange flame piece.   Ensure the cable is laid underneath and toward the back, then reconnect the grey bricks underneath. Reconnect the fireplace section to the room, then reconnect all the surrounding sections we removed earlier.     9.) Disconnect the following two tiles, then take out a Wireless Connector end with the flat tile. With the cable facing the outside of the building, connect it to the following position.   Reconnect the white tile with studs to the left of it. If you have a spare white 1×1 tile, you can connect it to the remaining stud, otherwise, simply leave it as is.   Place the first floor onto it’s left side, then disconnect the white 1×10 plate from underneath. Pull both cables down the outside of the wall and lay them underneath toward the inside. Ensuring the cables are laid in between studs, reconnect the 1×10 plate to secure them both into place.   Use tape to secure both cables down the outside of the wall.     10.) Take out the Flicker Effects Board (FFX) and connect the other end of the White 15cm Bit Light from fireplace to one of the OUT ports. Take a 5cm Connecting Cable and connect one end of it to the IN port on the effects board.   Bring the first floor section over the ground floor and connect the two Bit Lights from the two door lamps to the 12-Port Expansion Board underneath.   Connect the Wireless Connector and the other end of the 5cm Connecting Cable from the flicker effects board to the 12-port Expansion Board.   Ensuring all cables are tucked inside, securely reconnect the first floor above the ground floor. Turn ON the Power to test all the lights and effects to the first floor are working OK. The fireplace light should be flickering to give a realistic fire flickering effect.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light or expansion board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     11.) Take the top floor of this building and disconnect the following pieces from the roof to allow us to install lighting to the top windows.   Take a White 15cm Bit Light and ensuring the LED is facing down, place it down just in front of the top of the left window frame. Push down the cable into the corner behind, then reconnect the white window roof section. If you look from underneath, you should see the LED peaking out to shine down on the window.   Repeat this step to install another White 15cm Bit Light to the top of the right window frame   Connect both Bit Lights to a 6-Port Expansion Board.     12.) Place the top floor onto it’s back so we can access underneath of it. Disconnect the following white 1×4 plate on the right side.   Take out a Wireless Connector end with the plate side (studded) and fold the cable over and lay it in between the studs. With the cable facing the inside of the building, connect it underneath the top floor in the following position.   Take out a Warm White Strip Light and using it’s adhesive backing, stick it to the base of a provided LEGO Plate 1×6. Connect the Wireless connector plug to the right port on the Strip Light. Take a 30cm Connecting Cable and connect one end to the left port on the Strip Light.   Connect the Strip Light underneath the top floor in the below position. Ensure the 30cm cable is facing the right side as shown below.   Bring the 30cm Connecting Cable across to the left side and over the wireless connector cable. Disconnect the white 1×6 plate from the left side and pull the 30cm cable up the wall. Reconnect the 1×6 plate ensuring the cable is laid in between studs.   Tuck in any excess cable from the wireless connector to prevent it from dangling down.       13.) Turn the top floor back over and pull the 30cm Connecting Cable up the left side of the building. Connect it to a spare port on the 6-Port Expansion Board above.   Take a 5cm Connecting Cable and connect one end to the 6-port Expansion Board. Connect the other end of the cable to a new Warm White Strip Light.   Turn the top floor around so we are facing the front, then bring the Strip Light over the top and thread it down the following space that leads into the inside.   Take the top floor and securely place it over the rest of the building. Ensure that both wireless connector contacts are aligned and touching each other. Turn ON the power to test the lights to the top floor are working OK. The lights will deactivate when the top floor is removed. It will activate when the top floor is reconnected as long as the wireless connector contacts are aligned.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light or expansion board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     14.) Disconnect the top floor from the rest of the building, then from the back side of the floor, locate the Strip Light we threaded down the roof of the top level. Pull it down and using it’s adhesive backing, stick the Strip Light to the ceiling in the following position.     Disconnect the following pieces from the right and pull the 30cm Connecting Cable all the way up. Lay the cable toward the inside and in between studs before reconnecting the two dark grey 1×4 plates we removed earlier.   Disconnect the black 2×4 plate and lay the 30cm cable across and in between studs. Reconnect the black 2×4 plate, followed by the larger dark grey plate 2×16 plate.     15.) Turn the set around to the front and lay the window light cables down in between studs as shown below, before reconnecting sections over the top.   Tuck the expansion board inside the following space, then lay the remaining excess cables out in between studs. Ensure there are no dangling cables and no components can be seen from the inside the room.   Reconnect all the surrounding sections of the roof.     16.) Securely reconnect the top floor to the rest of the building ensuring both wireless connector contacts are correctly aligned and touching   Turn ON the power to test all the lights to this building are working OK.     17.) We will now move onto lighting the brown building (Book Shop). Remove all the upper floors and disconnect the tree.   Disconnect the following tiles on the top of the ground floor, then disconnect the entire upper wall section above the arches, followed by the lamp and brick section behind it.     18.) Disassemble the lamp as shown below, then take a White 30cm Bit Light and thread the connector end of the cable through the bottom of the trans yellow round brick (large hole) and out the smaller hole. Thread the cable all the way through, then carefully bend the LED so that it faces directly down before pushing it all the way inside the brick.   Thread the cable through the bottom of the black cage and out the back, then reconnect the trans yellow brick inside. Ensure the cable is not visible from the front of the lamp.   Reconnect it to the brick section behind, then lay the cable underneath this section and toward the left. Reconnect the lamp to the building ensuring the cable is brought up behind as shown below.     19.) Take the upper wall section we removed earlier and place it onto it’s back so we can access underneath of it. Take a Green 30cm Bit Light and stick the back of the LED to a provided Adhesive Square. Stick the Bit Light underneath the right arch ensuring the cable is facing the left. Tuck the cable in between the white and brown brick as shown below.   Repeat this step to install another Green 30cm Bit Light, sticking it underneath the left arch using another provided Adhesive Square.   Reconnect this wall section to the front of the building. Ensure the cable from the right arch is laid in between the white brick and front wall as shown below.   Reconnect the 1×2 bricks on each side. If you look closely at the front of the green windows, you should see the Green Bit Light installed to shine down onto the trans green bricks.     20.) Disconnect the stair case floor section from the back of the room, then locate the end of the 50cm Connecting Cable from the blue building and thread it through outside of the orange building (technic brick hole). Pull the cable in from the inside of the building underneath the stairs, then thread it up behind the stairs in the corner of the room. Bring the cable over the stairs and connect it to a new 6-Port Expansion Board.    ** Alternatively, if you are displaying this side of the building completely seperate to the blue building and wish to power this building independently, thread your USB power Cable or Connecting Cable through this side instead. (Both extra USB Power Cable or Connecting Cable is not included in this set and can be purchased separately) Connect the three Bit Lights from the front of the book shop to the 6-Port Expansion Board, then turn the power ON to test the lamp and window lights are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light or expansion board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     21.) Disconnect the following tiles from the top of the left side of the building. Connect the tile with studs to the new position toward the back as shown below.   Take out a Wireless Connector end (flat tile contact) and with the cable facing the inside of the building, connect it to the following position. Connect the wireless connector cable to a spare port on the 6-Port Expansion Board.   Group the three bit light cables together in between the following studs, then secure them down by reconnecting the 1×2 tile and longer 1×8 tile on both sides. Ensure the three cables are side by side and flat rather than over the top of each other.   Disconnect the tile with studs as well as the wireless connector tile, then bring the three cables across toward the back. Lay 2 of them around studs before reconnecting the wireless connector tile over the top. Bring the two cables along with the third cable toward the back and lay them individually in between studs. Reconnect the tile with studs over the top.   Neaten up the cables by bunching them up together, then place the expansion board on top of the book shelf before reconnecting the stair case floor section over the top.     22.) Take the second floor and place it onto it’s back so we can access underneath of it. Disconnect the following 1×8 plate from the left side. Take out a Wireless Connector end (plate with stud side) and with the cable facing the inside of the building connect it to the following position.     Connect the other end of the wireless connector to a Warm White Strip Light. Take a 15cm Connecting Cable and connect one end to the Strip Light’s right port. Using it’s adhesive backing, stick the strip light underneath the second floor in the following position.   Secure the wireless connector cable by pushing it up inside the plate holes as shown below, then secure the cable by connecting a provided Plate 1×6 over the top.     23.) Connect the other end of the 15cm Connecting Cable from previous step to a new 6-Port Expansion Board. Thread the expansion board up the following space which leads to the inside of the second level. Secure the 15cm cable underneath the following 2×10 plate ensuring the cable is in between studs.   Turn this section over and pull the expansion board up from underneath.     Connect the second floor on top of the ground floor ensuring both the wireless contacts are aligned. Turn ON the power to test the strip light and wireless connectors are working OK.     24.) Remove the second level again and while facing the back right of this section, disconnect the following tiles.   Take out another Wireless Connector End (Flat tile contact) and with the cable facing the inside of the room, connect it to the following position. Take the 1×3 tile and the tile with studs and connect them to new positions as per below:   Turn the section around so we are facing the inside of the building where the stair case is. Thread the other end of the wireless connector down the space in between the stairs and pull it out from underneath the stair case. Connect this cable to a spare port on the 6-port Expansion board (we pulled up from underneath in previous step).     25.) Disconnect the floor lamp and disassemble it as per below:   Take a White 30cm Bit Light and with the LED facing down, place it over the top stud of the trans clear brick. Secure the Bit Light in place by reconnecting the gold tile with clip over the top, then reconnect it to the lamp post. Reconnect the floor lamp to the second level.   Disconnect the following tiles and wall section, then lay the Bit Light cable from the lamp over the studs. Reconnect the wall section we removed over the top.   From the other side of the wall, pull the lamp cable up and lay it over the wall. Secure it in place by reconnecting the 1×4 tile over the top.     26.) Turn this section around to the front and disconnect the following tiles from the front.  Connect the other end of the lamp cable to a spare port on the 6-port expansion board inside. Stick 2x Adhesive Squares to the back of the expansion board and mount it inside the second floor in the following position.     Take the two cables and pull them up the front corner of the room. Secure them on top of the room by laying them in between studs. Reconnect the following two tiles over the top.   Continue to lay the excess cable from the floor lamp in between studs toward the right side. Reconnect tiles over the top as you go.   Disconnect the following tiles and lay the remaining cable in between studs underneath before reconnecting the tiles over the top.   Reconnect the second floor to the ground floor again ensuring the two wireless connector contacts are aligned. Turn ON the power to test the floor lamp light is working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light or expansion board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     27.) Take the top floor and place it onto it’s back so we can access underneath of it. Disconnect the dark grey 1×8 plate from the left side, then take out the remaining Wireless Connector end (plate) and with the cable facing inside, connect it to the following position underneath the top floor.   Connect the other end of the wireless connector to a new Warm White Strip Light. Connect a 5cm Connecting Cable to the other end of the strip light, then using it’s adhesive stick the Strip Light underneath the top floor in the following position. Ensure the 5cm cable is facing right.     28.) Connect the other end of the 5cm Connecting Cable to a new Warm White Strip Light. Take the remaining 15cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the other end of the Strip Light, then using it’s adhesive backing, stick this strip light to the following position underneath the top floor.   Secure the wireless connector cable by laying it in between studs and connecting a provided LEGO Plate 1×6 over the top. Secure any remaining excess cable underneath the dark grey 1×10 plate.   Thread the other end of the 15cm Connecting Cable up the following space that leads into the top floor. Turn the set over and disconnect the back wall. Pull the 15cm cable up from underneath.     29.) Disconnect the roof section as well as the following angled brick on the right side. Pull the 15cm Connecting Cable up and lay it around the following stud before reconnecting the angled brick over it.   Connect the cable to the remaining Warm White Strip Light. Using it’s adhesive backing, stick the strip light underneath the roof section we disconnected earlier in the following position.   Bring the cable up the corner and lay it behind the following studs before securely reconnecting the roof.   Turn this section around to the front and secure any excess cable underneath the following tiles.     30.) Securely reconnect the top floor to the rest of the building, ensuring the two wireless connectors are correctly aligned. Turn the power ON to test all lights to the building are working OK before reconnecting the back wall.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light or expansion board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.   Bring the two buildings together and thread any excess cable from the 50cm Connecting Cable back inside the blue building (as there is more space in the basement that is not visible. Securely reconnect the two buildings together (or leave them apart depending on how you wish to display/place them). Lastly, reconnect the tree to the front of the set.

Important things to note:

Laying cables in between and underneath bricks

Cables can fit in between and underneath LEGO® bricks, plates, and tiles providing they are laid correctly between the LEGO® studs. Do NOT forcefully join LEGO® together around cables; instead ensure they are laying comfortably in between each stud.

CAUTION: Forcing LEGO® to connect over a cable can result in damaging the cable and light.

Connecting cable connectors to Expansion Boards

Take extra care when inserting connectors to ports of Expansion Boards. Connectors can be inserted only one way. With the expansion board facing up, look for the soldered “=” symbol on the left side of the port. The connector side with the wires exposed should be facing toward the soldered “=” symbol as you insert into the port. If a plug won’t fit easily into a port connector, do not force it.

Incorrectly inserting the connector can can result in bent pins inside the port or possible overheating of the expansion board when connected.  

Connecting cable connectors to Strip Lights

Take extra care when inserting connectors to ports on the Strip Lights. Connectors can be inserted only one way. With the Strip Light facing up, ensure the side of the connector with the wires exposed is facing down. If a plug won’t fit easily into a port connector, don’t force it. Doing so will damage the plug and the connector.

Connecting Micro Cable connectors to Micro Expansion Board Ports

Take extra care when inserting the micro connectors to micro ports of Micro Expansion Boards. Connecting Micro Bit Lights to Micro Expansion Boards is similar to connecting lights and cables to Strip Lights. With the expansion board facing up, ensure the side of the connector with the wires exposed is facing down. If a plug won’t fit easily into a port connector, do not force it. Use your fingernail to push the plastic part of the connector to the micro port.  

Installing Bit Lights under LEGO® bricks and plates.

When installing Bit Lights under LEGO® pieces, ensure they are placed the correct way up (Yellow LED component exposed). You can either place them directly on top of LEGO® studs or in between.

 

OK, Let’s Begin!

  1.) We will first install the headlights to the batmobile. Carefully remove the two headlight sections, then flip them over and disassemble the right headlight section as shown below.   Take a Warm White 30cm Large Bit Light and with the LED facing the opposite side to the sticker, place it inside the trans yellow brick. Bring the cable down the side where the sticker is, then secure the Bit Light in place by reconnecting the trans yellow plate over the top.     Repeat this step to install another 2x Warm White 30cm Large Bit Lights to the other two headlight pieces, then reconnect each one to the right headlight ensuring the LEDS are facing to the front.     2.) Bring the ends of the three bit light cables together and thread them through the space behind the headlights. Turn the batmobile onto it’s left side so we can access underneath. Find the three cables we threaded through behind the headlight and pull them all the way out at the front of the wheel.   Turn the vehicle back over and reconnect the right headlight ensuring the cables underneath are laid in between studs.   Turn the vehicle back onto it’s left side again and disconnect the front right wheel, then slightly bend the three cables into a hook shape and thread the cables through the following dark grey technic brick hole behind the wheel. Thread the cables through and pull them all the way out at the following space below.   Secure the cables around the top of the wheel axis by disconnecting the following light grey plate, laying the cables underneath in between studs, then reconnecting the plate over the top. It is important to ensure there is enough cable slack for the wheel to still be able to turn all the way left and right, so test this out to ensure all is ok.     3.) Thread the three cables through to the next space in the centre, then pull them all the way out.   Connect the three bit lights to a 12-Port Expansion Board. Take the AA Battery Pack and insert 3x new AA Batteries to it. Connect the Battery Pack cable to a spare port on the expansion board, then turn it on to test the right headlights are working OK   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light or expansion board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.   Reconnect the wheel we removed earlier, then flip the batmobile back over and continue to the next step.     4.) Disassemble the left headlight section, then repeat step 1 and 2 to install another 3x Warm White 30cm Large Bit Lights and reconnect the headlight section.   Turn the vehicle back onto it’s right side and disconnect the front left wheel, then slightly bend the three cables into a hook shape and thread the cables through the following hole behind the wheel. Thread the cables through and pull them all the way out at the middle space as shown below.     5.) Secure the cables around the top of the wheel axis by disconnecting the following grey plate, laying the cables underneath in between studs, then reconnecting the plate over the top. It is important to ensure there is enough cable slack for the wheel to turn all the way left and right.   Pull the three cables all the way out the middle section and connect them to the 12-Port Expansion Board. Turn the AA Battery Pack ON to test both headlights are working OK.     Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light or expansion board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.   Reconnect the left wheel and turn the set back over.     6.) We will now install a light effect behind the front grill. First disconnect the top two sections surrounding it, then pull the grill section all the way out.   Pull back the rear wheel plate as shown below.   Take the Rotating White 30cm Bit Light and thread the connector side of the cable through the top of the rear wheel plate through the following hole.   Take an Adhesive Square and stick it to the bottom of the Rotating Bit Light, then stick the bit light to the top of the hole inside the rear wheel plate as shown below:     7.) Thread the Rotating Bit Light cable through the bottom space behind where the grill connects to, then turn the vehicle over and pull the cable all the way out from underneath as per below:   Before we reconnect the front grill, push the rear wheel plate back up but ensure you Do NOT push the technic pin the whole way back otherwise it will crush the rotating bit light inside. Push the rear wheel plate up so that you can still see the ridge that runs along the side of the wheel plate.   Ensure the Rotating Bit Light cable is facing up, then reconnect the grill section as well as the two arched sections above.     8.) From underneath the vehicle,  thread the Rotating Bit Light cable under and pull it out the space where all the headlight cables are located.   Pull the cable all the way out, then connect it to a spare port on the 12-Port Expansion Board. Turn the Battery Pack ON to test the Rotating Bit Light inside the grill is working OK. The LEDs should be illuminating in a rotating sequence to give a nice “engine rev” effect inside the grill.     9.) We will now install some lights and effects for the machine guns. First, lift this section up and remove the front half from each gun section.   Disassemble one of the guns as shown below then take a White 15cm Bit Light and thread the connector end of the cable down the front of the barrel. Thread it all the way through. The LED should fit snug inside the top of the barrel, with the led facing sideways. Reconnect this section to the bottom half of the gun ensuring the cable is facing the bottom.   Repeat this step to install another White 15cm Bit Light to the other gun section.     10.) Take the left gun section and thread the cable down the space underneath where it pops out of. Reconnect the gun to the base section, then turn the vehicle onto it’s right side and pull the cable out at the following position.   Pull the cable all the way down, then thread it through the technic brick hole underneath and pull it out of the space where the rest of the cables are.   Take the Gun Effects Board (GFX) , and connect the Bit Light cable to the channel 1 port. Ensure the channel switch is set to the middle for the “machine gun” effect. Alternatively, you can choose from one of the other gun effects.   Take a 5cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the IN port (+5V) on the Gun Effects Board. Connect the other end of the connecting cable to a spare port on the 12-Port Expansion Board. Turn the AA Battery Pack ON again, to test the machine gun light is working along with the machine gun effect.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light or expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     22.) Take the right gun section and repeat the previous step to reconnect and thread the bit light cable down underneath the vehicle. Connect the cable to Channel 3 on the Gun Effects Board.   Turn the Power ON to test both Machine Guns lights are working OK. They should be both firing at random rates.     23.) Turn the Batmobile around and remove the following sections from the back of the vehicle and from the back of the cabin.     24.) Disconnect the AA Battery Pack from the 12-Port Expansion Board underneath the Batmobile, then take a 50cm Connecting Cable and connect it to a spare port on the 12-Port Expansion Board.   Follow the below images to thread the other end of the 50cm Cable through the following technic brick holes in the middle to lead it toward the back of the vehicle.   Neaten up cables from the components toward the front of the vehicle by grouping them together and twisting and folding them into a neat bunch. Tuck both effects board and expansion board inside the centre spaces as shown below:     25.) Pull remaining excess of the 50cm Connecting Cable all the way out from the rear side, then connect it to an 8-Port Expansion Board. Tuck the expansion board up the following space which leads to the inside of the trunk.   Turn the vehicle back around and you should be able to easily access the expansion board inside the trunk of the vehicle.     26.) Disconnect the following pieces from the inside of the trunk. We will be discarding these pieces as we require this space to house the AA Battery Pack.   Take a 15cm Connecting Cable and connect one end to the 8-Port Expansion Board underneath. Connect the other end of the cable to the IN port on the NC Push Board.   Take another 15cm Connecting Cable and connect one end to the OUT port on the NC Push Board. Connect the other end of the cable to a 6-Port Expansion Board. Set all of these components inside the rear section of the vehicle for now.     27.) Disconnect the following section from both sides of the cabin.   Disconnect the trans black 2×2 rounded bottom plate from one of the sections, then place a Cool White 30cm Bit Light in the middle (led facing up). Reconnect the trans black 2×2 rounded bottom plate over the top, then repeat this step to install another Cool White 30cm Bit Light to the other section.   Reconnect each section to the vehicle ensuring the cable is facing toward the back. Pull down the angled plate behind it so we can neatly lay the cable behind and in between studs. Reconnect the plate to conceal the wiring as shown below.     Repeat this step to reconnect the other section to the right side.     28.) Connect both Bit Light cables we just installed to the 6-Port Expansion Board from step 26, then take the AA Battery Pack and place it inside the back of the Batmobile ensuring the switch is facing up and closest to the back. Connect the Battery Pack cable to the 8-Port Expansion Board (Do NOT connect the battery pack to the 6-port Expansion Board.)   Turn the AA Battery Pack ON to test all the lights are working OK. Test the NC push board is also working OK. Push the lever to test the the outside cabin lights we just installed turn OFF. The lights should re-activate when the push lever is released.     29.) Take the following section we moved just behind the cabin and turn it over so we can access underneath. Take a White Strip Light and connect a 15cm Connecting Cable to it.   Using it’s adhesive backing, stick the strip light underneath this section in the following position. Ensure the cable is facing the right, then bend the cable down so that it is facing the back of this section, as shown below.     30.) Bring this section above the batmobile, then locate the NC Push Board and remove the protective paper on the back of it to expose the adhesive. With the push button facing the front, stick the NC Push Board underneath the top cabin section in the following position. Ensure that the NC push board is mounted exactly as shown below and aligned exactly so that we do not have any issues reconnecting this section later.     Turn this section over and reconnect it to the back of the Batmobile while ensuring all cables are laid neatly in between studs underneath. The NC Push Board button should be peaking out slightly so that it pushes in when the cabin door is closed.   Locate the other end of the 15cm Connecting Cable from the White Strip Light and connect it to a spare port on the 6-Port Expansion Board at the back of the vehicle. Turn ON the Battery Pack to test all internal and external cabin lights are working OK. The lights should activate when the cabin door is open, and deactivate when the cabin door is closed.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light or expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.   Neaten up cabling from the cool white bit lights by folding and twisting them into a neat bunch. Tuck the bunched up cables underneath the AA Battery Pack.     31.) We will now install the tail lights. First disconnect all of the following sections from the back of the vehicle as shown below.   Prop a large object like a book or the light kit box underneath the back of the Batmobile so that you can easily access underneath of the rear side, then disconnect the following section from each side of the tail light.     32.) Take the two tail light sections and disassemble the right tail light as per below. Take a Red 30cm Bit Light and thread the connector end of the cable through the top of the black round plate with centre open stud. Thread the Bit Light all the way through then carefully bend it so that the LED sits flat against the top of the plate. Secure the Bit Light in place by reconnecting the trans red dish over the top.   Reconnect the black tile underneath, then fold the cable underneath before reconnecting it to the tail light section. Ensure the cable is facing toward the left side as shown below:     33.) Take the following three pieces and swap out the black round plate 1×1 with a provided Black Round Plate 1×1 with open stud. Take another Red 30cm Bit Light and place it directly over the black tile’s stud. Secure it in place by connecting the provided black round plate with open stud over the top. Reconnect the trans red round tile.   Fold the bit light cable underneath the black tile before reconnecting it to the tail light section. Ensure the cable is facing the left side.   Fold both cables down the left side of the tail light, then reconnect this section to the back of the Batmobile. Ensuring both cables are folded down into the corner and laid in between studs before reconnecting the section we removed earlier over the top.   Thread both cables up the following section which leads to the inside of the trunk, then pull them all the way out from the inside. Reconnect the two sections we removed earlier to the right side.     34.) Repeat steps 32 and 33 to install another 2x Red 30cm Bit Lights to the left tail light section, this time, laying the cables toward the right side.   Fold the cables down the right side of the tail light, then reconnect it to the left side of the vehicle. Ensure you carefully lay the cables down in the corner before reconnecting the section we removed earlier over the top.   Thread the cables through to the inside of the trunk, then reconnect the following two sections to the left side.     Connect all four Red Bit Light cables to the 8-Port Expansion Board in the rear of the vehicle, then turn ON the Batter Pack to test the tail lights are all working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light or expansion board or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     35.) Take a 5cm Connecting Cable and connect it a spare port on the 8-Port Expansion Board. Connect the other end of the cable to the IN port on the Flicker Effects Board (FFX).   Take a new 5cm Connecting Cable and connect it to one of the OUT ports on the Flicker Effects Board, then connect the other end of the cable to the remaining 8-Port Expansion Board in this kit.   Slide the AA Battery Pack out from the rear of the vehicle, then neaten up cabling by folding and twisting the tail light cables into a neat bunch. Tuck the bunched up cables underneath the red technic bar, then slide the AA Battery Pack back in ensuring the new 8-port expansion board from this step is still accessible.     36.) Take the jet section and remove the top technic wheel, then remove the 8 plates from the outside.   We will be sticking Bit Lights to the following 6 positions. Take note of the below image as a reference.   Take a White 15cm Bit Light and stick it to an Adhesive Square. Thread the connector end of the cable through the following space, then stick the Bit Light to the first location as shown below.     37.) Using the same method as in previous step, install another 5x White 15cm Bit Lights to this jet sections ensuring you stick the Bit Lights to the correct locations as shown below:   Turn this section around and continue.     38.) Reconnect the technic wheel to the top ensuring you the wheel holes align up to where the Bit Lights are installed underneath.   Reconnect the 8 plates to the outside of the Jet section, then from the back, seperate the cables into two groups. Twist or Braid the cables together as shown below.   Thread the two groups of cables all the way through the following two spaces, then reconnect the Jet section ensuring the two groups of cables are directly to each side.   Connect all six cables to the 8-Port Expansion Board, then turn on the AA Battery Pack to test the jet lights are working and flickering OK.   Test the machine guns can still be hoisted up and down by turning the Jet section. If you run into any issues, check the two group of bit light cables from the jet are neatly separated and installed exactly as shown in previous steps.     39.) Reconnect all the sections surrounding the back of the vehicle.   To access the battery, simply remove the backing.

OK, Let’s begin Part 2!

  47.) We will now install lights to the back jets. First disconnect the three larger jet sections, then follow the images below to disassemble one of them.     48.) Take a Cool White 30cm Large Bit Light and with the LED facing up, place it in the centre of the bottom of the rigid 2×2 round brick. Secure the Bit Light in place by reconnecting the trans light blue dishes over the top. You should be able to clearly see the LED peaking through the centre of the dishes.   Flip this section over and fold the cable down against the outside of the rigid brick, then thread the connector end of the cable through the inside of the Jet pieces, pulling the cable all the way out from the other side.   Reconnect the round technic pieces back on top, ensuring the yellow technic pin is connecting to the rigid brick on the inside of the jet. Push down the yellow technic pin so that the dark grey brick is flat and can easily reconnect to the back of the ship later.   Thread the jet light cable through the space just underneath where the left jet reconnects to, then from the inside of the ship, pull the cable all the way out. Securely reconnect the Jet to the back of the ship.   Connect the Large Bit Light to a new 6-Port Expansion Board.     48.) Follow the previous step to install another Cool White 30cm Large Bit Light to the middle Jet section.   Thread the Bit Light cable through the gap on the top right of where the middle Jet reconnects to. Pull the cable all the way out from the inside of the ship, then securely reconnect the middle Jet to the back of the ship.   From the back of the ship, thread the cable through the following space that leads to the inside, then from the the inside (turn the ship around to the right side), pull the cable all the way out. Locate the same 6-Port Expansion Board we connected the other Jet light to and pull it over to this side, then connect the bit light cable to it.     49.) Install another Cool White 30cm Large Bit Light to the right large Jet (using the same method used in previous steps), then thread the cable through the following gap just underneath where the right jet reconnects to. Pull the cable all the way out from the inside of the ship, then securely reconnect the right Jet to the back of the ship.   Connect the Bit Light cable to the same 6-port Expansion board as per previous steps, then connect a new 5cm Connecting Cable to a spare port. Connect the other end of the 5cm cable to one of the OUT ports on the Pulse Effects Board (PFX)   Take another 5cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the IN port on the Pulse Effects Board, then connect the other end of the cable to a spare port on the 12-Port Expansion Board on the right side of the ship.   Turn ON the power to test the large jet lights are working OK. They should also be pulsing via the effects board. We can configure the desired effect later on when we connect up the other jet lights.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board, or effects board). We will now light up the four smaller jet sections. First disconnect all four jets by pulling each one out as shown below:     51.) Take one of the jet sections and disassemble it as shown below, then take a Cool White 30cm Bit Light and thread the connector end of the cable through the top of the the trans light blue round brick. Pull the cable all the way out from the other side, then carefully bend the LED so that it sits flat against the top of the brick. Secure the Bit Light in place by connecting a provided Trans Light Blue Round Plate 1×1 over the top.   Carefully reconnect the black bar inside the round brick, then thread the connector end of the cable along with the black bar through the top of the jet section.   The cable should be laid inside space between the bar and corner axis.   Thread the connector end of the cable along with the black bar through the top of the two rigid 2×2 bricks, then securely reconnect everything together.   Ensure the cable is laid in the space in between black bar and axis.     52.) Bring this jet section close to the back of the ship and thread the bit light cable through the following space that leads to the inside of the ship. Pull the cable all the way out from the inside of the ship, then securely reconnect the jet section to the back as shown below.   From the inside of the ship, find the bit light cable and connect it to a new 6-Port Expansion Board.     53.) Using the same method we used to install the first smaller jet light, install another Cool White 30cm Bit Light to another Jet.   Thread the cable through the space just above the bottom jet at the back of the ship before securely reconnecting the jet. From the inside of the ship, pull the bit light cable out and connect it to the same 6-port expansion board we connected the first smaller jet light to.   Thread the 6-Port Expansion Board through the middle space into the right side of the ship. This will make it easier to locate the expansion board when we need to connect the other two smaller jets on the right side.     54.) Install another 2x Cool White 30cm Bit Lights to the two remaining smaller jets, then thread the cables through the following spaces before securely reconnecting them to the back of the ship. Pull each bit light cable out from the inside of the right side of the ship, then connect both bit lights to the 6-port Expansion board from previous step.     55.) Take a 5cm Connecting Cable and connect one end to a spare port on the 6-port expansion board we connected the smaller jet lights to. Connect the other end of the cable to the second OUT port on the Pulse Effects Board.   We can now configure the pulse effects board to your desired effect. This effects board has 3 different effects, which can be set using the 3-way switch on the board. Fast Pulse, Medium Pulse, Slow Pulse.   Turn ON the power to test all the jet lights are working and configure your desired effect.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board, or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     56.) Reconnect the front right panel to the ship by clicking in the technic ball joints, then flip the set over and reconnect the front left panel.     57.) Take the following middle section we removed earlier and remove the first half of this section. Disconnect the light grey slope tile at the front, then take a Cool White 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing down, place it over the front stud. Secure the light in place by connecting a provided Trans Clear Slope 30 1x1x2/3 over the top, then reconnect the two halves together.   Reconnect this section to the top of the ship, ensuring the bit light cable is laid underneath but is still accessible for us to connect it up later on.     58.) Turn the ship around again to the right side, then take the back right panel and disconnect the three laser cannon sections from it as shown below.   Take one of the laser cannons and disassemble as per below.     59.) This next process will be very similar to the process used to install the lights to the previous laser cannons. Take a Green 15cm Micro Bit Light and carefully bend the LED so that it is facing longways up. Thread the Bit Light inside the hole of one of the cannon pieces, then fold the cable down the side of the canon. Ensuring the cable is laid directly on the side of the stud, reconnect the 1×1 round plate over the top. The cable should be secured in between the plates.   Reconnect this section to the left cannon base, then reconnect it to the large plate ensuring the cable is laid underneath and in between the middle studs.   Install another Green 15cm Micro Bit Light to the right cannon, then reconnect it to the large plate ensuring the cable is laid underneath and in between studs.   Ensuring both micro bit light cables are laid in between studs, reconnect the angled plate behind the cannons, then reconnect the section to the right panel.     60.) Repeat the previous step to install lights to the two other cannon sections using 4x Green 15cm Micro Bit Lights. Reconnect each section to the right panel.     61.) Flip the entire right panel over, then connect the cables from the two outer cannons to a Micro 4-Port Expansion Board. Take the cables from the centre cannon and connect them to a different Micro 4-Port Expansion Board.   Take 2x 15cm Connecting Cables and each one to the two micro expansion boards’ large port.   Take 2x 30cm Connecting Cables and connect each one to the two micro expansion boards’ other large port.   Bring the entire panel up towards the ship and place the expansion boards and cables inside, then securely reconnect this panel using the technic ball joints. Reconnect the 2×4 tile and 2×2 rounded bottom plate to secure the front and back panels together.     62.) Bring the 4 connecting cables from the micro expansion boards inside the ship together and thread them underneath the middle section to the left side. Turn the ship over to the left side, then pull the four cables out.   Take the two 15cm connecting cables we pulled through from the other side and connect each one to a different OUT port (port 2 and 3) on the Gun Effects Board.   Turn the power ON to test all the cannons and blasters on the right side of the ship are working and firing in seperate sequences.     63.) We will now light up the cannons on the back left panel. First disconnect the three cannon sections, then repeat steps 58 to 59 to install 6x Green 15cm Micro Bit Lights to the three cannon sections     64.) Turn the panel around, then connect the bit light cables from the two outer cannons to a Micro 4-Port Expansion Board. Connect the bit light cables from the centre cannon to a new Micro 4-Port Expansion Board.   Bring the entire panel up and reconnect it to the top of the ship via the black technic ball joints, then secure the front and back panels by reconnecting the 2×4 tile and 2×2 rounded bottom stud.   Locate the other end of the two 30cm Connecting Cables we pulled through from the other side (step 62) and connect one to each of the micro expansion board’s large ports.   Turn ON the power to test all the cannon lights on each side are working OK and firing at different rates.     65.) Take a new 30cm Connecting Cable and connect it to the 12-Port Expansion Board on the left side of the ship toward the back. Bring the other end of the cable out toward the front, then secure it somewhere so that we can easily locate it later on.     66.) We will now install lights to the upper floor sections of the star destroyer. First take the upper left floor section and disconnect the following roof plate by pushing your finger up underneath.   Disconnect the following pieces on the side, then take a Flashing White 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing down, place it over the right stud on the right plate. Secure the light in place by connecting a provided Trans Clear Round Plate 1×1 over the top.   Reconnect these two pieces together, then thread the bit light cable through the top of the floor before reconnecting all the pieces together ensuring the cable is laid underneath.     67.) We will now install a couple of lights to the lower part and to the back of this section. Lift this section up so we can better access the lower section. Take a Cool White 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing down, place it over the following stud. Secure the light place using another provided Trans Clear Round Plate 1×1. Fold the cable underneath this section.   Take another Cool White 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing down, place it over the following stud on the right of this section. Secure the light place using another provided Trans Clear Round Plate 1×1. Fold the cable underneath this section.     68.) Turn this section around to the back and disconnect the following pieces from the left side.   Take a Cool White 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing down, place it over the stud on the top of the angled plate. Secure the light in place using another provided Trans Clear Round Plate 1×1. Place the angled plate back the section and while ensuring the cable is laid down in between studs, reconnect the 2×3 tile over the top, followed by the mechanical piece.   Fold the cable underneath this section, then place this section on top of the ship. Connect all four light cables from this section to the 12-Port Expansion Board on the left side of the ship.   Securely reconnect this upper level section by threading the white bars down through the yellow plate holes, then turn ON the power to test all the upper lights on the left side are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board, or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     69.) We will now light up the upper floor section on the right side. Carefully turn the set around to the right side, then take the upper floor floor section and disconnect the following roof plate by pushing your finger up underneath.   Disconnect the following pieces, then take a Flashing White 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing down, place it over the right stud on the right plate. Secure the light in place by connecting a provided Trans Clear Round Plate 1×1 over the top.   Fold the cable underneath the plate, then thread the bit light cable through the top of the floor before reconnecting all the pieces together.     70.) We will now install a couple of lights to the lower part and to the back of this section. Lift this section up so we can better access the lower section. Take a Cool White 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing down, place it over the following stud. Secure the light place using another provided Trans Clear Round Plate 1×1. Fold the cable underneath this section.   Take another Cool White 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing down, place it over the following stud on the right of this section. Secure the light place using another provided Trans Clear Round Plate 1×1. Fold the cable underneath this section.   71.) Turn this section around to the back and disconnect the following pieces from the right side.   Take a Cool White 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing down, place it over the stud on the top of the angled plate. Secure the light in place using another provided Trans Clear Round Plate 1×1. Place the angled plate back to this section and while ensuring the cable is laid down in between studs, reconnect the 2×3 tile over the top, followed by the mechanical piece.   Fold the cable underneath this section, then place this section on top of the ship. Connect all four light cables from this section to the 12-Port Expansion Board on the right side of the ship.   Securely reconnect this upper level section by threading the white bars down through the yellow plate holes, then turn ON the power to test all the upper lights on both sides are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board, or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     72.) Take the front left floor section and lift it up so we can better access the front of the lower part. Take a Cool White 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing down, place it over the following stud on the right side. Secure it in place using a provided Trans Clear Round Plate 1×1, then fold the cable down underneath this section.   Turn this section over to the left side, then take a Flashing Red 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing down, place it over the following stud. Secure it in place using another provided Trans Clear Round Plate 1×1, then fold the cable down underneath this section.     73.) Disconnect the cone piece from the top of this section, then take a Flashing White 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing the outside, place it directly over the stud where we disconnected the cone piece from. Secure the light in place using a provided Trans Black Cone 1×1 with Top Groove.   Turn this section around so that we are facing the inside of it, then tuck the flashing white bit light cable in behind the following piece. Group the three Bit Light cables and connect them to an 8-Port Expansion Board. Flip the set over onto it’s side and eliminate excess cable by twisting and winding them around each other to form a neat bunch.     74.) Bring this section up on top of the ship and locate the other end of the 30cm Connecting Cable we left spare from step 65. Connect this cable to the 8-Port Expansion board   Locate the other end of the Bit Light cable from the front (step 57) and connect this to the 8-port expansion board as well.   Securely reconnect this front level section to the left side, ensuring the 8-port expansion board is still accessible from the right side of the ship.     75.) Take the remaining front section and using your LEGO removal tool, disconnect the following piece from the front of it. Take a Cool White 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing down, place it over the following stud. Secure the light in place by reconnecting the piece we removed earlier over the top of it, then connect a provided Trans Clear Round Plate 1×1 on top. Fold the cable down underneath this section.   Turn this section over to the right side, then take a Flashing Red 30cm Bit Light and with the cable facing down, place it over the following stud. Secure it in place using the remaining provided Trans Clear Round Plate 1×1, then fold the cable down underneath.     76.) Place this section on top of the star destroyer and connect the two bit light cables to the 8-Port Expansion Board. Neatly place all the components inside the ship before securely reconnecting everything back together.   Turn ON the power to test all the lights are working OK.   Note: If you experience any issues with the lights not working and suspect an issue with a component, please try a different port on the expansion board to verify where the fault lies (with the light, expansion board, or effects board). To correct any issues with expansion board ports, please view the section addressing expansion board issues on our online troubleshooting guide.     77.) Lastly, we need to neaten up the cables underneath this set. First disconnect the USB power cable from the 2-port expansion board, then wind the 50cm Cable around the top of the stand pole a few times to tighten and secure cable. Thread the cable through the lower part of stand a few times, then wind any remaining excess cable around the lower part of the pole. Reconnect the USB Power Cable to the 2-port expansion board.

Transporting your Imperial Star Destroyer.

Take extra caution when moving your LEGO Imperial Star Destroyer. If you need access to the handle, first disconnect the two front sections, then disconnect the 30cm connecting cable from the 8-port expansion board as well as the Bit light cable from the front middle light.    

This finally completes installation of the Light My Bricks Star Wars UCS Imperial Star Destroyer Light Kit.
